The Health Thread
To start off the Health Thread, I thought I would begin by posting
a link to the Wild Fermentation site. Fermented foods should be a
big part of what you eat which includes important fermented foods
like pickles, nutto (Japanese - fermented soy beans), cheese, wine,
beer, mead, cider, chocolate, coffee, tea, pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi,
miso, tempeh, soy sauce, vinegar, yogurt, kefir, kombucha.
Of those fermented foods mentioned above I'm partial to miso
(fermented soy beans), soy sauce, tea, vinegar, yogurt and kombucha,
although kombucha is a bit troublesome to make and keep going
because you are fermenting a mushroom (a fungus).
Here is the Wild Fermentation site dedicated to teaching the
fermentation of foods:
The first time tgII grew a kombucha fungus it startled him how fast it
grew and how durable it was.
Here are a few links to get you up to speed on the efficacy of the
health benefits derived from drinking this elixir tea:
Tea is a big part of beverages I drink daily, a very big part, and Essiac
tea along with green tea are contenders in the all star cast as
nominees in the Tea Hall of Fame.
If anyone does not know the history of Essiac tea, now is your chance
to find out about this incredible combination of herbs brewed into a tea. If
you didn't already know it, Essiac tea is named after a Canadian woman,
Rene Caisse, a nurse who did all the hard work and research behind the tea
and it is her name spelled backwards.
If anyone else has had experiences with these fermented foods, please,
let us hear about your experiences, or if you want to expand on this list
as well as provide links to your sources let us hear about them.

Re: The Health Thread
Who said we can have a health thread! Alright hope you don't mind I'm going to talk about the dark and bad bacteria tgII,
they are just as important to know about.
Seems like you got something good going on inside. I know you like beer, unpasteurized beer is also a drink full of enzymes and a very healthy drink. I got a fermentation kit, was going to make my own concoction, wine out of berries instead of grapes. As a fermented food I like kimchee, and kombucha isn't that bad, kind of like drinking a very mild beer because of
the alcohol that is created. Raw Kefir is a type of liquid yogurt that is a more popular drink out there.
One knows good health starts in the gut. Intestinal toxemia or bad bacteria are the cause of many chronic diseases, like rhuematoid arthritis and some cancers etc.
The bad bacteria don't cause the symptoms right away because they are so small and they take time to build up
and why a person gets the disease years later.
Okay here comes the science.
Originally the intestines were made to digest raw foods and natural ingredients such as fermented foods. But over time
most of it has turned into cooked foods and why bad bacteria such as streptococci, Bacillus coli and yeast cells are found
in the stools, making them dark, odorous and alkaline. Versus the raw diet which produces lactic acid bacilli
(acidophilus, or the good bacteria/aka/probiotics), and very little Bacillus Coli, with the stools being light colored, non odorous and slightly acidic.
The good bacteria need starch from complex carbohydrates to grow, so oats, nuts etc, heavier foods are crucial.
More info on those good one's can be found at Donna Page's website:

Re: The Health Thread
The original "beer" was actually a fermented form of porridge.
You had to eat it with a spoon.
It wasn't until much later that it was distilled into a more liquid beverage or ale.

Re: The Health Thread
And quite by accident too, probably an Egyptian dropped a basket of
wheat by the outside porch and forgot about it. After a few rainfalls
and natural airborne yeast finding its way over to the damp wheat it
started to ferment, wallah, porridge beer, and I bet the alcohol was
sufficient enough that the Egyptian wheat farmer didn't bother going
out into his field that day?!
And I'd be also willing to bet that wheat was extremely high quality
with almost zero glutton content.

Re: The Health Thread
I was looking for an antidote for a noxious and bad bacteria that was lurking on the forum here. So excuse me for bringing up the subject on those bad bugs.
That's interesting Quicksilvercrescendo. Usually when plants are domesticated like wheat has been and all other species of it are bred out, the plant usually gets sick and dies out. Like what happened to the potato famine in Europe back then. Instead the wheat became difficult to digest and accounts for many problems and the root cause of illnesses. Crohn's disease being one of them. For sure tgII the other wheat specimens probably had very little gluten, like rice and oats.
Flames, I know a few folks who have tried making it and it's very tricky to do. This kombucha here tastes a bit better than others, and not a corporation, but small business. They explain the facts on this drink. Oh and it has lots of lactic acid in it, excellent nutrition for the probiotics.

Re: The Health Thread
Herbal cures alright flames! Essiac tea was mentioned. I also recommend that or some other herbs, like red root, chaparral (this one especially if a tumor is present), burdock...similar to clean the blood and wash out anything that may be forming. It's anti-cancer because tumors feed off of the blood and may turn into a cancer and these herbs prevent that and flush out the tumor.
So it's good to do a blood cleanse every once in a while.
Like I wrote earlier they don't suppress the symptom but cure it.
There are a lot of stories I hear. Recently, I talked to a lady who called me and she said she was swelling up with water, edema. And she went to the doctor and they said she had a bladder infection which wasn't true. My first thought was no way, this is something serious, something going on with a major organ. Plus the doctors gave her the wrong antibiotic and she got worse. (It's amazing how many people the doctors murder and how many people they make even sicker. I guess you can't have a conscious as a doctor nowadays, if I was one and gave out gave out a wrong pharm drug and it killed someone, I would be devastated.)
If I was able to see her, I would have known it was the liver, because it changes the skin and eye color. I knew something was going on with her organs. She finally went back to the doctor and they found out this time she had hepatitus.
What that virus does it can mutate and it can stay dormant in the body for over 30 years and then all of a sudden after seeming to be healthy a person gets ill with it.
I have talked to people with hepatitus C and they have cured it with the active ingredient in Milk Thistle, called Silymarin.
So that plant also cures and that's just one cure story. But herbs are one of the best preventatives as well.
I like going to used book stores, that's where you find the outdated books on herbs and it's good to have a book like that as a first aid kit! Plus you can exprement on yourself and learn some facts. It would be ideal to plant the herbs so you have them right there.
I believe Chinese herbs are the most potent out there.

Re: The Health Thread
quicksilvercrescendo, this wheat has really got me going. If you are out there bring back the post over here! The same with the potato, one had to know which strain to eat and eventually got the edible ones now. But for some reason really only one strain of wheat is the main one selected and it's not easily digested.
Alright! Weston Price Foundation is one of the best groups out there that deals with health and are not part of the FDA. This group actually does studies that are not all botched up and full of lies like the FDA's.
You know about the wheat, other foods like soy have been placed in society for malevolent purposes. I'm sure you heard what tofu does to people. What if wheat was also selected as the food back then to make a person weaker.

Re: The Health Thread
There is nothing bad about wheat if it is non-GMO, organically grown and you are not allergic to it.
As a grain it should be soaked or fermented, as a flour made into bread it should be "worked" with a sour-dough bacterial culture. This soaking and pre-digestion make it quite suitable for human consumption. Soy is only good in a fermented form and is quite healthy if you are not allergic to it.
But the best grains, in my opinion based upon alkalinity and digestion, are brown rice, millet and quinoa. But pre-soaking or fermenting is ideal.
Grains are commonly eaten in their "seed" forms which is why this much effort has to be made when eating them.
The best way to eat grains, for max nutritional content and digestibility, is to sprout them and eat them. Same with beans. Their sprouts is the ideal way to eat them.

One of the unspoken things about sprouting or growing your own herbs etc , is the consciousness connecting with nature , specifically being reminded of the hidden forces all around one now being indirectly observed by the progress of growth, and especially that there is a time to meddle and there is a time to leave be .
Ive never thought of it in this way before, now i have a strong reason to try something , because there is discipline and intuition at work there to be comprehended .
I was speaking to a classical musician recently and he was saying that when playing particular types of classical tones, his houseplants are uplifted in their growth expression, but when playing certain thrash metal notes, the plants withered

Re: The Health Thread
You forgot about the nuts. Soak your nuts!
Yeah, there is nothing wrong with eating wheat, because it has enzymes that are hard to break down and
can be soaked in water with a little lemon juice or vinagar preferably. There's nothing like eating homemade bread and biscuits.
And foods high in gluten can most likely be eaten as is if some fermented foods were taken with it.
But why such a food like wheat with it's high gluten levels chosen as the
main specimen. You wouldn't believe how gluten can affect a person. I heard from a gal who said everytime she
ate wheat it imbalanced her and she either got high blood pressure or high cholesterol. And see how those two
problems can easily be healed by soaking wheat. It all comes down to what one eats.
So yeah I understand how soaking breaks down the phytic acid and soaking partially breaks down the gluten. It really
comes down to how one eats there food and not forgetting there was a reason why ancestors prepared food a certain way.
But why was a food chosen high in gluten which is what triggers these diseases chosen as the main staple grain in the West.
Soy was never meant to be eaten like that, but the West doesn't know much about how it has always been consumed, fermented.

edit: I recall that wild rice is really a grain from marsh grass, but is related to the other rices. I wonder if it can be made into a flour.

celiac diseaseGrains require careful preparation because they contain a number of antinutrients that can cause serious health problems. Phytic acid, for example, is an organic acid in which phosphorus is bound. It is mostly found in the bran or outer hull of seeds. Untreated phytic acid can combine with calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and especially zinc in the intestinal tract and block their absorption. This is why a diet high in improperly prepared whole grains may lead to serious mineral deficiencies and bone loss. The modern misguided practice of consuming large amounts of unprocessed bran often improves colon transit time at first but may lead to irritable bowel syndrome and, in the long term, many other adverse effects.
Other antinutrients in whole grains include enzyme inhibitors which can inhibit digestion and put stress on the pancreas; irritating tannins; complex sugars which the body cannot break down; and gluten and related hard-to-digest proteins which may cause allergies, digestive disorders and even mental illness.

That sounds familiar and so true Kapis. Like a child growing up naturally.
I try to remember to send my plants good thoughts and remind me how important sunshine is. I have got to more often start preparing my food with good vibes as well.
Rainyday, I have this great recipe for amaranth or quinoa lasagna. It tastes just like the meat version, but even better!

Re: The Health Thread
Hello hrblsh. I wasn't trying to create some sort of conspiracy around wheat. I think what happened is that people had to let go of traditions because of migrating or because of big Ag who determines the main staple, so one couldn't prepare their foods the way nature intended.
Wild rice is really a grain so it might turn out better than rice flour, that's all I was guessing. Yeah rice bread is icky and breaks up. There is millet bread out there, and that is tasty for those who are gluten intolerant. It is high in other proteins. Thankfully your brother is doing better.
Interesting you came up with a theory yourself. Gluten is a protein, not a lipid, but proteins can change their form and sometimes that will cause problems, like a prion does. It's true that oils absorb toxins and eating contaminated oils or even rancid oils can make one toxic. Eating good raw fats will flush out the any toxin in the body though, even toxic facts. It's so powerful that I heard once that a person who changed their diet to raw animal products had his glue, that the doctor used to fix his nose earlier in his life was being flushed out, because fat targets chemicals or synthetics.

Re: The Health Thread
They were brought here to feed the animals, that's the reason! Just kidding. You keep breeding different species till you get the one you want.
The influx of soy could be a definite scheme, I don't like to get paranoid but eating soy (not fermented) is plain backwards. One must learn what foods to eat again and not let some big Ag tell one what to eat. Soy is one of the most genetically modified food that's the first one they experimented on then had the media market it like crazy. You can't tell me that wasn't a plan right there!
The asians have pretty much kept their traditions so they know how to eat their foods. They have kept rice one of the more better starches that digest along with their fermented foods. Can't get any better than that. I really enjoy rice, not the bread.
The body would most likely adapt to digesting the glutens in wheat, but it hasn't been long enough so you still have people who are intolerant.
Anyway it's amazing what good fats can do and draw out any foreign substance, wonder if it's strong enough to pull out a microchip? Keep the liver in good shape because that's where the toxins go to get detoxified.

Re: The Health Thread
His book is most interesting...but I don't subscribe to all of his work regarding diet...and where I disagree with him, I would then use and enter the information from Weston A. Price foundation for the basis of my own dietary practices...
I argue that vegetarianism is not the natural diet for man. But I do advocate periods of fasting or abstaining from animal flesh to be part of a cleansing or healing regimen. Further delving into animal food elimination, for me, involves a change toward a monastic lifestyle where the spiritual practice must accompany the dietary choice for their to be spiritual benefit. But a regular schedule and life demands, for me, indicate that small amounts of animal foods are health supporting.
But his perspective on colon cleansing is interesting...and his cleanse is one of the best, but very specific and not one should attempt lightly...there are many details to it that should be interpreted and followed strictly.
Note...he does, very briefly, goes on into a New Age slant, but his Naturopathic clinical perspective is what to consider...

Inspired by a remarkable wilderness experience Rich discovers deep internal cleansing:
Living in the fresh open air with his herbalist friend, White Crow, bathing in cold streams and lakes, eating only fresh, wild herbs and studying the human soul and body changed Rich’s life forever. The herbs they consumed initiated unexpected and an almost unbelievable cleansing; their minds became sharp and clear, their energy almost limitless and they found themselves steeped in a profound sense of well-being. And all of this was accompanied by an endless flow of love and joy that permeated every cell of their beings as their awareness magically expanded beyond words.
Topics include vegetarianism, alkaline/acid balance and emotions.
Rich shares invaluable information on achieving and maintaining good health. He writes about vegetarianism and why vegetarians live longer. He defines pH and alkaline/acid balance in the body and its vital role in maintaining vitality. He discusses how our emotions influence our health and much more.
A complete book on cleansing:
Most likely the best book on internal cleansing that you will ever read; Cleanse & Purify Thyself, Book 1, clearly explains the whys and wherefores of cleansing with guidelines of “how to” comfortably and effectively cleanse and purify yourself! An informative and inspiring “must read” for anyone curious about improving their health or contemplating a cleanse! 199 pages

It is what we do to ourselves that governs our state of health, not what is done to us.
*
We do not need to know the name of disease, but we do need to know how to get rid of the internal filth which comprises the environment that causes the disease.
*
We never need to be attacked by outside entities, commonly called germs. We can create them within our own bodies by polluting our bodies.
*
Whatever we have put into our bodies that interferes with its ability to function properly, must be removed.
*
Did you know that there has never been a disease that someone hasn't conquered?
*
We also need to treat the liver by cleansing and strengthening it, and we can never successfully accomplish this without first cleansing the bowels.
*
The survival of every animal, bird, fish, plant, and germ (whether it be bacteria, viruses, fungus, or protozoa), depends entirely upon its environment. Pathogenic germs cannot overcome a clean, healthy, and vibrant human body.
*
Disease occurs only when our internal environment is favorable for disease growth.
**********
VEGETARIANISM
*
The ability to love at higher levels is inhibited by the brutality and cruelty of flesh-eating.
*
Studies show that vegetarians are stronger, more agile, have twice the stamina, less disease, and recover from fatigue faster than meat-eaters.
**********
OUR BODIES, MINDS AND AFFAIRS ARE MODIFIED BY OUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS
*
Let us see ourselves the way we want to be. Let us, to the very best of our ability, act as though we are now that which we want to be.
*
When we begin to practice these exercises, all the negative thoughts and feelings that interfere with our desired goals will begin to surface.
*
Watch that our attention does not become fixed on the things we do not want.
*
For what we give or do to other parts of life we force into ourselves
*
If we want perfection, we absolutely must see perfection in others as well as ourselves.
*
If you do not see perfection, if you see other than God's perfection, then you contribute to the darkness of the world.
*
Judging the mistakes of others binds us to them.
*
The original sin is egotism, which is the failure to see the Oneness of life.
*
I challenge everyone reading these words to practice gratitude, appreciation, and non-judgment, for these bring forth love and healing like nothing else does.
*
If we are not laughing or at least chuckling to ourselves every few minutes, then we can be certain that we are suffering from illusion.
*
The fulfillment of all hopes is love.
*
Joy is love in action.
*
The most important effort anyone can ever make to obtain success, happiness, and health, is to establish the habit of unconditional love for everyone and everything. No greater aspirations exist
*
For it is consciousness - the beliefs we hold about ourselves, our basic mental points of view, our emotional habits, which govern our physiology.
*
Our subconscious mind doesn't function in limitation, only our conscious mind does that.
*
Emotions such as grief, guilt, feelings of failure, resentment, and suppressed anger produce over-secretion of the same hormones that suppress the immune system. Can we reverse this condition by creating emotions of love and joy?
*
Both small and large masses of tumors have disappeared virtually overnight. Just before the cure appears, almost every patient experiences a dramatic shift in awareness.
*
Unconscious mind doesn't care what seeds we give it, nor what it will manifest for us. Its fruits are always the results of the seeds we planted within it.
*
Whenever people consider themselves victims, (thinking: this is not my fault; it was imposed upon me), then at the very moment they proclaim their belief, usually unconsciously, that they do not have the power to protect or heal themselves. This is a grave mistake, for it blocks the healing process.
**********
MODERN MEDICINE
*
Modern medical science is the only organization that suggests using treatments worse than the disease.
*
Drugs and radiation suppress the body's toxin and emotion releasing activity. If we want true healing, we must allow all toxins to surface and be released.
**********
ELECTROLYTES
*
Following breathing, and the heart beating, the next most important physiological function our bodies perform is to maintain balanced pH.
*
When the body becomes low in its supply of an electrolyte, it will go to other parts of the body, break down tissue, and retrieve the needed electrolytes.
*
Eating only organically grown produce is the only way we can be confident that we are receiving adequate supply of minerals, since commercially grown produce is usually deficient in minerals.
*
Adequate healing cannot occur until we have replenished our mineral supply and brought our bodies into the proper pH.
*
A lack of organic minerals anywhere in our bodies means a decrease in cell and enzyme function.
*
Only slight changes in pH from normal levels can cause extreme alterations in the rates of chemical reactions - inside and outside the cells.
*
Every function of our bodies is dependent upon an adequate supply of minerals.
**********
MUCOID PLAQUE
*
Mucoid plaque seems to be the forerunner of many disease conditions. Not just in the bowel, but diseases throughout the entire body.
*
One of the main problems with mucoid plaque is that it can inhibit the flow of the gastric and intestinal fluids, and interfere with proper digestion.
*
Mucoid plaque actually protects pathogens from what ever luminal attack we may wish to administer. Clinical studies have shown that pathogenic bacteria, such as E. coli, actually hide underneath the mucoid plaque and are completely separated from luminal contents.
*
Food must make contact with the 22 or more digestive enzymes that extrude from the epithelium and out through the glycocalyx. However, this is not happening with the vast majority of people in the Western World, because of the layer or layers of mucoid plaque.
*
Mucoid plaque is a normal by-product of unnatural acids or toxic stimulation.
**********
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
*
The bowel feeds every organ, every tissue, every cell in our bodies and when the quality of feeding from the digestive system is contaminated or of poor quality, the cells and organs in the rest of the body will also be of poor quality. A toxic bowel means toxic blood and lymph, toxic organs and cells, and toxic function.
*
All physiological, chemical, and anatomical processes in every cell and organs in our bodies are completely dependent upon the digestive system.
**********
STEPS IN OVERCOMING DISEASE
*
The first step in overcoming disease is to put a stop to its cause. This should always begin by eliminating the source of the habits and acts of creating negative thoughts and feelings which are the original cause of disease.
*
The second step is the most important of all, and that is to seriously and enthusiastically practice appreciation, joy and Love - for all life unconditionally. Love, peace, harmony, gratitude, and praise trigger positive hormonal and nerve influences - expanding the life, energy, and light in the body, bringing vitality and happiness. For these states of consciousness purify and strengthen the life force within us.
*
The third step toward overcoming disease is to remove congestion and toxins from the body, mind, and emotions. These toxic substances have lodged deep within our bodies.
*
The fourth step toward perfect health of the body is to stop eating "foods" that are dead, deficient, processed or toxic, for they cause mucus, excess acid, more toxins, and congestion.
*
The fifth step toward lasting health is to supply the body with the needed elements of organically grown foods, clean air, pure water, alkaline minerals, and massive doses of Love and joy.
*
The sixth step is to rebuild the body's organs and glands. This means to rebuild the digestive function after we have cleansed it, and to cleanse and rebuild the liver, kidneys, spleen, and the glandular system. It means also to strengthen the heart, lungs, and muscles.
*
The seventh step is to exercise on a regular basis.
*
And, third, now We know just how far you are willing to go to purify yourself. That! will be your greatest benefit." Saint Germain
*
The liver is one of the keys in getting well. We must remove as many of the toxins as we can, the more the better, as quickly as possible, and without over-burdening the already over-burdened liver and - I must add - the kidneys too.
*
We attack our own bodies principally by eating the wrong foods and generating stressful emotions which alter our internal environment.
*
The entry of an outside entity (bacteria, virus, parasite) usually has little effect upon our bodies unless our internal environment has become acidic and polluted.
*
Disease is never acquired. It is always earned. Disease is a natural result obtained from an unnatural lifestyle. Disease is not a question of exposure. It is an internal development which can lead to exposure susceptibility.
*
Each cell in the body has the intelligence to grow an entirely new body, and it doesn't matter whether the body is 2 years old or 120, the cells always know what to do. Our mission, should we choose to accept it, is to make certain our bodies have the material it and cleanliness it needs to do its job.
*
All life on our planet depends upon a specific environment for survival, including germs.
*
We must alter our normal healthy internal environment before germs can survive.
*
Our negative feelings are the kinks that produce every undesirable experience that we have ever had or ever will have in our lives. Indeed, we reap what we sow.
*
How is it that the slow deterioration of old age occurs with almost everyone? For, over 90% of our bodies are completely renewed in less than a year.
*
We do this by maintaining the positive consciousness during the cleansing process and allowing the old negative consciousness to be released without judgment. For it is the judgment that binds them to the new cells.
*
Any time we cleanse, it is essential to keep our attention upon the things we want rather than the thing we do not want - the thoughts, feelings, and habits that move us toward perfect health, vitality, success, and love.
*
It is through cleansing and later fasting, that we can quickly remove the physical accumulation which has anchored various mental and emotional blockages.
*
The most vital, most important part of all is to see, feel, and act as though our goals are complete - now!
*
You see the subconscious mind has already created our life to be the way it is now, because we programmed it to be that way.

Re: The Health Thread
Now here is what is interesting.
The colon cleansing program and books I recommended before were created by a Dr. Anderson.
Dr. Anderson was the person to coin the phrase mucoidal fecal matter.
But let's look at the explanation of this in Wikipedia...
First...colon cleansing...
It would appear that anyone reading this would get the overwhelming impression that colon therapy is useless and quackery.
Now let's look at mucoid plaque...a term first used by Dr. Anderson...
This explanation would leave an even stronger impression that there is no such thing as mucoid plaque.
And many people will suggest that these colon cleansing programs that use Bentonite Clay and Psyllium Husk actually are what creates this mucoid plaque and you are just shitting out the product itself...and it is all a scam.
Here is a short video with some colonoscopy footage...before and after...
Now after watching this video, what opinion do you have of the two wikipedia entries and all the legit medical establishment's opinions on mucoid plaque and thus colon irrigation or cleansing?
The internal parts of your alimentary canal, digestive and eliminatory tract are actually, anatomically, the external surfaces of the body.
This is so because the body is shaped like a torus or doughnut when you consider the mouth and anus and the tunnel connecting them. This is the deepest portion of the external surface of your body.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torus
So the lining of the colon is really not anatomically different than the surface of your skin, just more specialized and absorptive in its own respect. So when you clean the colon, it isn't much different than washing your face...sort of.
The colon cleansing program and books I recommended before were created by a Dr. Anderson.
Dr. Anderson was the person to coin the phrase mucoidal fecal matter.
But let's look at the explanation of this in Wikipedia...
First...colon cleansing...
Colon cleansing (colon therapy) encompasses a number of alternative medical therapies intended to remove fecal waste and unidentified toxins from the colon and intestinal tract. Colon cleansing may take the form of colon hydrotherapy (also called colonics or colonic irrigation) or oral cleansing regimens.
Colon hydrotherapy uses enemas to inject water, sometimes mixed with herbs or with other liquids, into the colon using special equipment. Oral cleaning uses dietary fiber, herbs, dietary supplements, or laxatives. Practitioners believe that accumulations of putrefied feces line the walls of the large intestine and that these accumulations harbour parasites or pathogenic gut flora, causing nonspecific symptoms and general ill-health. This "auto-intoxication" hypothesis is based on medical beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians and Greeks, and was discredited in the early 20th century.[1][2]
No scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing.[2] The bowel itself is not dirty and barring drugs or disease, cleans itself naturally without need for assistance.[3] Some types of colon cleansing present potential hazards; the equipment used during colon cleansing has caused damage to the rectum in a small number of individuals, and caused amoebiasis when improperly sterilized. Certain enema preparations have been associated with heart attacks and electrolyte imbalances. Frequent colon cleansing may interfere with the proper functioning of the colon and can lead to dependence on laxatives or enemas to defecate. Some herbs used may also interact with or reduce the effectiveness of prescription drugs.[4]
The efficacy of colon cleansing is based on the concept of "auto-intoxication", the idea that food enters the intestine and rots.[1][5] The ancient Egyptians believed that toxins formed as a result of decomposition within the intestines, and moved from there into the circulatory system causing fever and the development of pus. The Ancient Greeks adopted and expanded the idea, applying their belief in the four humours. In the 19th century, studies in biochemistry and microbiology seemed to support the autointoxication hypothesis, and mainstream physicians promoted the idea.[6] The idea was promoted most strongly by Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov, who thought that these toxins could shorten the lifespan. Over time, the concept broadened to "auto-intoxication" which supposes that the body cannot fully dispose of its waste products and toxins, which then accumulate in the intestine.[5] In some cases, the concept led to radical surgeries to remove the colon for unrelated symptoms.[7]
Auto-intoxication enjoyed some favor in the medical community from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, but was discarded as advances in science failed to support its claims.[5][8][9] A 1919 paper Origin of the so-called auto-intoxication symptom in the Journal of the American Medical Association[10] marked the beginning of the rejection of the auto-intoxication hypothesis by the medical community.[6]
Despite this, "auto-intoxication" persists in the public imagination. The practice of colon cleansing has undergone a resurgence in the alternative medical community, supported by testimonials and anecdotal evidence and promoted by manufacturers of colon cleansing products.[5][8]
Relationship to medical symptoms
The symptoms that are attributed to auto-intoxication—headache, fatigue, loss of appetite and irritability—are actually caused by mechanical distention within the bowel, such as irritable bowel syndrome, rather than toxins from putrefying food.[1][6][11] The benefits anecdotally attributed to colon cleansing are vague and the claims made by manufacturers and practitioners are based on a flawed understanding of the body.[12][8] There is little evidence of actual benefit to the procedure, and no evidence that it can alleviate the symptoms that are attributed to the theories of colon cleansing.[9] No surgeries, autopsies or other observations of colons have discovered any evidence of compacted feces or other evidence to support the theory of auto-intoxication or the need for colon cleansing.[1][6] There is no evidence that frequent bowel movements result in better health or longer life.[6][12]
Complications and risks
Colon cleansing is not necessary as the body naturally removes waste material.[3][13] Colon cleansing may disrupt the balance between bacteria and natural chemicals in the bowel, and may interfere with the colon's ability to shed dead cells.[14] Other rare but serious complications include gastrointestinal perforation from improper insertion,[15][16] and amoebic infection from poorly sterilised equipment.[17] Some colon cleansing regimes disrupt fluid and electrolyte balance which may lead to dehydration and salt depletion, whilst repeated or excessive cleansing programs can lead to anemia and malnutrition.[13] Excessive use of enemas have also been associated with cardiac problems such as heart failure,[13] and heart attacks related to electrolyte imbalances when used with coffee.[18] The frequent use of enemas or other colon cleansing tools may lead to dependence and an inability to defecate without assistance or withdrawal symptoms.[1][4] Herbs that are consumed for colon cleansing and taken as oral preparations may also interfere with drug absorption and effectiveness.[4]
Regulation
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates the production of equipment used in colon hydrotherapy in the USA but does not regulate their use, or the supplements used in oral colon cleansing regimens and manufacturer claims do not require verification or supporting evidence. The contents of the products are also not verified or tested.[14] The FDA has issued several letters warning manufacturers and suppliers of colon hydrotherapy equipment about making false claims of effectiveness, safety issues and quality control violations.[1]
It would appear that anyone reading this would get the overwhelming impression that colon therapy is useless and quackery.
Now let's look at mucoid plaque...a term first used by Dr. Anderson...
Mucoid plaque or mucoid rope is a term used by some alternative medicine advocates to describe a combination of allegedly harmful mucus-like material and food residue that they say coats the gastrointestinal tract of most people. The term was coined by Richard Anderson, a naturopath and entrepreneur, who sells a range of products that claim to cleanse the body of such plaques by causing them to be eliminated.[1] Many such "colon cleansing" products are promoted to the public on websites that have been described as making misleading medical claims.[2] The presence of laxatives, clay, and fibrous thickening agents in some of these "cleansing agents" have led to suggestions that the products themselves produce the excreted product regarded as the plaque.[2][3]
Mucus is a naturally occurring product of the digestive system and plays an important role in protecting it from damage and infection.[4][5] This mucus layer is less than a millimetre thick, but may become thinner or be removed entirely in diseases such as ulcerative colitis, which exposes the surface of the intestine to damage.[6][7] However, the concept that this mucus layer might form a 'mucoid plaque' has been dismissed by physicians as having no anatomical or physiological basis.[8][9][10]
[edit] History
Various forms of colon cleansing were popular in the 19th and early 20th century.[11] In 1932, Bastedo wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association about his observation of mucus masses being removed by a colon irrigation procedure: “When one sees the dirty gray, brown or blackish sheets, strings and rolled up wormlike masses of tough mucus with a rotten or dead-fish odor that are obtained by colon irrigations, one does not wonder that these patients feel ill and that they obtain relief and show improvement as the result of the irrigation.”[12]
While colonic irrigation enjoyed a vogue in early 20th century as a possible cure for numerous diseases, subsequent research showed that it was useless and potentially harmful. With the scientific rationale for "colon cleansing" disproven, the idea fell into disrepute as a form of quackery, with a recent medical review stating that "there is no evidence to support this ill-conceived theory that has been long abandoned by the scientific community."[13] Similarly, in response to claims that colon cleansing removes "toxins" Bennett Roth, a gastroenterologist at the University of California stated "There is absolutely no science to this whatsoever. There is no such thing as getting rid of quote-unquote 'toxins.' The colon was made to carry stool. This is total baloney."[14] The preoccupation with such bowel management products has been described as a "quaint and amusing chapter in the history of weird medical beliefs."[15] Nevertheless, interest in colonic "autointoxication" as a cause of illness, and in colonic irrigation as a cure, enjoyed a revival in alternative medicine at the end of the 20th century.[16]
The term "mucoid plaque" was coined and popularized by naturopath Richard Anderson.[3][17] However, Anderson acknowledges that a similar concept has been described previously by practitioners of alternative medicine. Victor Earl Irons and Bernard Jensen used the terms "toxic mucous lining" or "toxic mucous layer" in their books. Robert Gray referred to "mucoid matter" in his 1990 book on colon health.
[edit] Statements by Anderson
The mucoid plaque is described by Anderson as a "gel-like, viscous and slimy mucus that forms as a layer or layers covering epithelial cells in various hollow organs, especially all the organs of the alimentary canal."[17] It is generally described as rubbery, ropey and often green.
Anderson further claims that the plaque is a health threat. He contends it can impair digestion and nutrient absorption, cause sugar intolerance, provide a haven for pathogens and parasites, cause diarrhea, and promote the development of bowel cancer, allergies and skin conditions. Anderson advocates the removal of mucoid plaque as a health benefit, and promotes a range of products he has developed that are said to accomplish this task.[17]
Anderson insists his claims are backed up by papers and textbooks on digestive physiology. He provides as evidence a scanning electron microscope study that reports the presence of thick mucous layers in the small intestines of children with chronic diarrhea and food intolerances.[17] One of Anderson's chief replies to his critics is that the reason there have not been confirmed reports of mucoid plaque by the medical profession is because current medical textbooks do not cover the concept and therefore doctors do not know what to look for.[1]
Anderson also alleges that a number of conditions recognised as distinct disorders or physiological entities by the medical community are actually varying manifestations of mucoid plaque – such as amyloidosis, gastric metaplasia, hypertrophia, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal lymphangiectasia, malacoplakia, mucoviscoidosis, polypus and villous adenoma. However, other marketers of colon cleansing products have acknowledged that mucoid plaque holds no standing amongst the medical profession and is backed up primarily by anecdotal evidence rather than empirical data.[18]
[edit] Medical evaluation
Practicing physicians have dismissed the concept of mucoid plaque as a hoax and a "non-credible concept".[8] A pathologist at the University of Texas School of Medicine addressed Anderson's claims directly, saying that he has "seen several thousand intestinal biopsies and have never seen any 'mucoid plaque.' This is a complete fabrication with no anatomic basis."[1][9] Another pathologist, Edward Friedlander, has noted during his experience that he has never observed anything resembling a "toxic bowel settlement" and that some online photographs actually depict what he recognises as a blood clot.[10] Commenting on claims that waste material can adhere to the colon, Douglas Pleskow, a gastroenterologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, stated "That is the urban legend. In reality, most people clear their GI tract within three days."[14]
In a review of websites promoting products that claim to remove 'mucoid rope' or plaque from consumers' intestines, Howard Hochster of New York University wrote that these websites are "abundant, quasi-scientific, and unfortunately convincing to a biologically uneducated public." He noted that although such sites are entertaining, they are disturbing in that they promote a belief that has no basis in physiology.[2] Hochster also noted that a preparation marketed to remove mucoid plaque contains laxatives and bulky fibrous ingredients. Thus, the ropy residue expelled from people who consume this product "certainly is a result of the figs and senna in this preparation," rather than any sort of pathologic 'plaque'.[2] Other 'colon cleanser' products contain bentonite clay that, when ingested, would also result in production of bulky stools.[3]

Re: The Health Thread
The cleaning of the colon is an old practice...
Basti (Hatha Yoga)
Basti is an important part of Shatkarma (sometimes known as Shatkriya), the yogic system of body cleansing techniques. It is intended mainly to the cleaning of the lower abdomen, especially the colon. Both the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and other sources[1] usually attribute to it many beneficial effects. There are basically two techniques to perform Basti:
* Sthala basti (aka Sushka basti or Vata basti), cleans the colon by sucking air into the body without the help of any external aid in the form of a catheter or tube.
* Jala basti (aka 'Vati basti') cleans the colon by sucking water into the anus. It is allowed the use of a catheter tube.
Basti - Yogic Enema
Sitting in utkatasana, naval deep in water, insert a tube in the anus and contract the anus. This cleansing with water is called basti karma.
("Hatha Yoga Pradipika" 2:26)
The Sanskrit word 'basti' (written as 'vasti' or 'wasti') is a general word that relates to anything pertaining to the lower abdomen, belly, pelvis and bladder. The practice of basti karma is a process of cleaning the lower abdomen, especially the colon. The word 'sthala' means 'ground'. Sthala basti is a practice where one stands on dry ground, i.e., one sucks air into the anus instead of water- The technique is also called 'sushka basti', 'sushka' meaning 'dry'. Another name for air basti is vata basti where the word 'vata' means 'air'. It is the practice which cleans the colon by sucking air into the body. In this practice, no external aid in the form of a catheter or tube is to be used.
The word 'jala' means 'water'. Jala basti is the practice whereby one sucks water into the anus. It is also called 'vati basti' which also means water. Vari basti is the process of cleaning the colon with water. The method for both sthala and jala basti is exactly the same, the only difference being that sthala basti is practised in air and jala basti in water. In this practice, unlike sthala basti, hatha yoga permits the use of a catheter tube.
Technique
Jala basti
If a river is not available, the practice can be done over a bucket or basin of water. Beginners will have to start by inserting a 0.8cm catheter into the rectum. Traditionally, a bamboo tube was used. Plastic tubing or a catheter are suitable but organic material is always preferable. The tube should be at least 13-15cms long, preferably smooth and hollow. Lubricate it with beeswax or a non-irritating oil such as vaseline or ghee.
Insert 4cms of the tube into the anal passage or as much as possible, then squat over the bucket or basin in utkatasana. Exhale and perform uddiyana bandha. If the water is not sucked up through the tube into the bowel, then do madhyama nauli and hold. If the water is still not sucked up do vama, or dakshina nauli. When you can no longer hold kumbhaka, remove the catheter or tube without exhaling. Then stand up and exhale slowly through the nose. When you expel the water it is best to squat over the toilet because stool in the lower intestine will also come out. If the catheter is not removed before exhaling, the water will pass out and the tube may get blocked by pieces of stool.
After much practice the catheter will not be necessary as you will be able to suck water into the bowel directly, but that is a very advanced stage which may take years to perfect. When practising without the catheter you have to push the rectum out as far as possible, then draw it in with uddiyana. First you open the sphincter muscles with the fingers, perform uddiyana and remove the hand. Maintain kumbhaka for as long as possible and then slowly exhale.
After the practice, make sure all the water is expelled. Then lie in shavasan on a blanket. Slowly assume pashinee mudra, placing the knees beside the ears and balancing or the backs of the shoulders, hands clasped behind the back of the knees. This releases air from the bowel and induces a bowel action if there is any water remaining.
Come out of the position slowly and lie in shavasana again. Then fold the knees to the chest, hold them and slowly rock from side to side, or rock with the arms stretched out to the sides at shoulder level. Lie in shavasana again, and when you are ready, perform bhujangasana slowly 3-5 times. This exerts pressure on the lower intestines and releases any remaining water or air. Those who are able should perform mayurasana. Pashinee mudra is the most suitable counter-pose.
It is extremely important that the water used in basti is perfectly clean and neither too hot nor too cold. In cold weather lukewarm water should be used. It is not necessary to add salt to the water but the catheter must be sterilised before and after use. Basti car be done in warm or hot weather, especially if you are also doing intense pranayama and bandhas. Basti generates energy but also removes heat from the system. It must not be done during cloudy, rainy, windy or stormy weather.
Sthala basti
Sthala or dry basti is performed while lying on the back. Assume Vipareeta karani mudra but position the back at a 60° angle to the floor. Then bring the knees down to the chest. Push the sphincter muscles out and in, so air is sucked into the bowel. This is not an easy practice and jala basti has to be perfected first. Sthala basti can also be practised in pashinee mudra or paschimottanasana, performing ashwini mudra. Uddiyana may also be required in the beginning. In paschimottanasana it is not easy to suck in air as there is pressure on the anus, so it is best to start in an inverted asana. The 'Hatharatnavali' says "After practising basti, do not take food for three ghatis (72 minutes).'
Benefits
According to the 'Hatha Yoga Pradipika', 'Enlargement of the glands and spleen and all diseases arising from excess wind, bile and mucus are eliminated from the body through the practice of basti.' With reference to jala basti it states, "By practising jala basti the appetite increases, the body glows, excess doshas are destroyed and the dhatu, senses and mind are purified."
Basti completely washes the bowel and removes excess bacteria, old stool, thread worms and heat from the lower intestines. Most importantly, it pushes apana vayu upward. When the apana, rises it can be felt in the navel and as a great pressure on the stomach. Basti cures digestive disorders and is particularly useful for removing constipation, controlling nervous diarrhoea and strengthening the solar plexus. It also improves muscle tone and blood supply as well as purifying the blood.
Basti should not be practised by anyone with high blood pressure, hernia or any serious digestive ailments. It is useful in treating ailments such as colitis and dysentery. However, in some cases it may be too drastic, so if you suffer from these types of disorders you should seek expert guidance.
Why must basti not be done during cloudy, windy or stormy weather?
Swami Niranjan: Do you know how to do the practice of basti? It you do, then you will know that the intake of water through the anal passage and rectum into the large, intestines is like a self-help enema where the water goes in and cleans the large intestines and is eventually discharged. Now, as a rule the water that is used for basti should not be cold or hot but of body temperature, so that the sensitive internal parts, the intestines, do not get a shock, causing the muscles to contract. The practice of basti induces a lot of pranic energy. It stimulates the pranic energy and one feels very active and dynamic afterwards. However, it also removes the physical beat or energy. The water absorbs the heat of the body and brings it out when it comes gushing out. This discharge of physical heat cannot be recuperated immediately if the weather is cold.
It has been the experience of many people that during cloudy, windy or stormy weather, when the external temperature is fluctuating between hot and cold, and is unstable, then some people can get constipation because of the loss of body heat and the inability of the body to recuperate that loss. Therefore it has been suggested that the practice of basti should be done in warm or hot weather only. Also, proper rest must be given to the body (at least forty minutes to one hour) before going headlong into the daily activities where the body is not given any rest.
Why do many commentaries refer to the 'violence' of hatha, yoga, saying, 'for hatha yoga gives rise to pain'.
Swami Niranjan: There used to be, and still is even to this day, a prevalent belief that hatha yoga means to treat the body violently or to practise yoga violently, and this violent practice of yoga is considered by many to be hatha yoga as per the literal meaning of the word 'hatha' which means 'hardship' or 'violence'. Therefore many people believe that the practice of hatha yoga gives rise to pain. Tradition speaks about the practices of raja yoga which are performed with an awareness of the various states of body, the result that a particular practice has on the body, and maintaining the body in a state of relaxation, harmony and flow within the practice.
The other aspect of hatha yoga is that in which a practice is done without considering what kind of pain the body is having, because hatha yoga believes that, if one has to rise beyond pleasure and pain, then yoga should take the form of tapasya - wilful control over the body, senses and mind, because it is the nature of the body and mind to seek pleasure and comfort. So whereas in raja yoga one is asked to follow the body and mind, and by following them to bring them under control, hatha yoga emphasises the need to enforce a discipline in the physiological and psychological structure.
However, this enforcing of discipline in hatha yoga is followed by an awareness of the limitations of body and mind. Being aware of the limitations and capabilities of the body is the first stage of hatha yoga, and then according to that, enforcing a discipline or state of yoga, is the second stage. People who do not realise this point and who take the term hatha yoga literally, and the practices of hatha yoga as part of the violent treatment, experience excruciating pain, physically and also mentally. When the practitioner is weak this can induce a state of apprehension for and rejection of the practice.
Types of Basti
Bastis are basically of eight types:
• Anuvasana Basti (medicated oil enema),
• Niruha-Asthapana Basti (herbal decoction enema),
• Uttar Basti (cleaning the urinary bladder by passing a catheter, cleaning the birth passage in women through a vaginal douche),
• Matra Basti (limited oil enema taken daily for 3 or 7 days),
• Yoga Basti (scheduled enema for 1 week),
• Kala Basti (scheduled enema for 15 days),
• Karma Basti (scheduled enema for 1 month) and lastly
• Bruhan Basti (nutritional enema).
However, the simplest easiest and most effective form is Yoga Basti:
Technique I
1. Take a small, hard rubber tube, 1 cm in diameter, 10 cms long.
2. Lubricate it with petroleum jelly, oil or soap.
3. Next, insert the tube about 2 or 3 inches into your anus.
4. Then squat in a tank or tub of knee-level water.
5. Contract the muscles of your abdomen and anus to slowly suck the water into your intestines.
6. In a short while you will automatically feel the urge to evacuate your bowels.
Technique II
1. If you cannot draw in water through the tube, then use an ordinary syringe available any medical store.
2. Connect this to a jar of water with a long rubber catheter and keep the jar above standing head level.
3. Then go down on all fours and let the water flow into your rectum.
By the use of a rubber tube, you will learn to draw water through your anus. But in Technique II syringe water is inserted into the anus. That is only the difference; the result is the same. However, by using a rubber tube you attain mastery over your intestinal muscles by in drawing and evacuating the water at will.
Benefits
Basti has proven to be highly beneficial in all sorts of Vata prakop (aggravation of Vata, one of the three basic doshas in the body). It delivers excellent results in all kinds of stomach and intestinal disorders, gastric problems, rheumatic joint pains and chronic headaches. Basti is most effective in cases of dry colon and rectum and the subsequent constipation. It also provides relief from conditions like abdominal distention, flatulence, dryness of digestive tract resulting in chronic fevers, etc.
Basti is also used for cleaning and nourishing the urinary tract and the reproductive tract in women. Disorders like obesity, lymphatic obstructions, ascitis (abnormal accumulation of serous fluid in the abdominal cavity), urinary problems and birth canal problems (especially in women) respond wonderfully to natural enema.
Contraindications
Basti is contraindicated in all types of diarrheas, dysenteries, per rectal bleeding, diabetes, severe anemia, hypo-proteinaemia, breathlessness and raj-yakshma (pulmonary tuberculosis).
However Basti and Dhautis should not be done daily or made a regular habit. Once every three months should achieve the desired results.

Some really good info above, having read it all, my conclusion is that of the videos
Re: The Health Thread
I have been studying and incorporating these yogic concepts into my life since I was sixteen years old. And you can clearly see why I could never really talk much with those in my peer group about anything of substance or real meaning...other than how trashed they got last week at the local bar.
One of the connections for me and Tsarion's early presentations was his citing that the hatha yogas may be the only remnants left of the sciences that were developed for humankind to overcome his genetic tamperings or genetic faults and restore himself or, at least, journey to what may have been a more ideal state of being.
Cleanliness physically can lead to tremendous cleanliness psychologically. And I feel that modernity has tried to turn it around and put far to much emphasis on the mind and how you feel. A toxic and crippled mind cannot "think" itself back into balance and certainly not the psychotherapies and their minions. So I think this physical to mental to spiritual route is the correct way for incarnated spiritual beings now experiencing physical reality in their current genetic and physical expression. I think most mental conditions would disappear through diet and the appropriate health practices. This is the gnosis.
My apologies for the length of posts, but I feel this type of material deserves the space and consideration.
Here is the link to more pages like this one...but this is a long sample of Chapter 3 to coincide with the topics I have posted above...an excellent work and online presentation of it.

The adepts yogis could stand in a stream and with muscle control actually give themselves a high colonic and intestinal cleanse by drawing the water upward and moving it around internally and then finally discharging it. It would seem a natural diet, proper lifestyle and these practices would reflect in subsequent generations becoming more fortified and stronger in their stock and constitutions.
Even the Essenes had documents discussing how to give oneself a colonic irrigation using natural tools for the task. And their philosophy for doing such was profound.
This should be man's religion of the self...and what we should have all the time to dedicate our lives to should we wish it. Who knows what the spiritual experience and evolution would be resultant.
And this would be my dedication to the forum's creed...

Chapter Three
YOGA SADHANA
How To Awaken The Kundalini
One should become perfectly desireless and should be full of Vairagya before attempting to awaken Kundalini. It can be awakened only when a man rises above Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada and other impurities. Kundalini can be awakened through rising above desires of the senses. The Yogi, who has got a pure heart and a mind free from passions and desires will be benefited by awakening Kundalini. If a man with a lot of impurities in the mind awakens the Sakti by sheer force through Asanas, Pranayamas and Mudras, he will break his legs and stumble down. He will not be able to ascend the Yogic ladder. This is the chief reason for people going out of the way or getting some bodily infirmities. There is nothing wrong in the Yoga. People must have purity first; then a thorough knowledge of the Sadhana, a proper guide, and a steady, gradual practice. When Kundalini is awakened there are many temptations on the way, and a Sadhaka without purity will not have the strength to resist.
A thorough knowledge of the theory is as essential as the practice. Some are of opinion that theory is not at all necessary. They bring one or two rare instances to prove that Kundalini has been awakened even in those who do not know anything about Nadis, Chakras and Kundalini. It might be due to the grace of a Guru or by mere chance. Everyone cannot expect this and neglect the theoretical side. If you look at the man in whom Kundalini has been awakened through the grace of a Guru, you will not at once begin to neglect the practical side and actually waste your time in passing from one Guru to the other. The man who has a clear knowledge of the theory and a steady practice, attains the desired goal quickly.
Kundalini can be awakened by Pranayama, Asanas and Mudras by Hatha Yogis; by concentration and training of the mind by Raja Yogis; by devotion and perfect self-surrender by Bhaktas; by analytical will by the Jnanis; by Mantras by the Tantrikas; and by the grace of the Guru (Guru Kripa) through touch, sight or mere Sankalpa. Rousing of Kundalini and its union with Siva at the Sahasrara Chakra effect the state of Samadhi and Mukti. No Samadhi is possible without awakening the Kundalini.
For a selected few, any one of the above methods is quite sufficient to awaken the Kundalini. Many will have to combine different methods. This is according to the growth and position of the Sadhakas in the spiritual path. The Guru will find out the real position of the Sadhaka and will prescribe a proper method that will successfully awaken the Kundalini in a short period. This is something like the doctor prescribing a proper medicine to a patient to cure a particular disease. One kind of medicine will not cure the diseases of different patients. So also, one kind of Sadhana may not suit all.
There are many persons nowadays who foolishly imagine that they have attained purity, commit errors in selecting some methods and neglect many important items of Sadhana. They are poor, self-deluded souls. Self-assertive, Rajasic Sadhakas will select some exercises of their own fancy in an irregular manner and leave all the exercises when they get some serious troubles.
After Kundalini is awakened, Prana passes upwards through Brahma Nadi along with mind and Agni. You will have to take it up to Sahasrara Chakra through some special exercises such as Mahabheda, Sakti Chalana, etc.
As soon as it is awakened, it pierces the Muladhara Chakra (Bheda). It should be taken to Sahasrara through various Chakras. When Kundalini is at one Chakra, intense heat is felt there and when it leaves that centre for another Chakra, the former Chakra becomes very cold and appears lifeless.
Freedom from Kama, Krodha, Raga and Dvesha and possession of balance of mind, cosmic love, astral vision, supreme fearlessness, desirelessness, Siddhis, divine intoxication and spiritual Ananda are the signs to denote the awakening of Kundalini. When it is at rest, a man has full consciousness of the world and its surroundings. When it is awakened he is dead to the world. He has no body-consciousness. He attains Unmani state. When Kundalini travels from Chakra to Chakra, layer after layer of the mind becomes opened and the Yogi acquires psychic powers. He gets control over the five elements. When it reaches the Sahasrara Chakra, he is in the Chidakasa (knowledge space).
Awakening of the Kundalini Sakti, its union with Siva, enjoying the nectar and other functions of the Kundalini Yoga that are described in the Yoga Sastras are misrepresented and taken in a literal sense by many. They think that they are Siva and ladies to be Sakti and that mere sexual union is the aim of Kundalini Yoga. After having some wrong interpretation of the Yogic texts, they begin to offer flowers and worship their wives with lustful propensities. The term “Divine intoxication that is derived by drinking the nectar” is also misrepresented. They take a lot of wine and other intoxicating drinks and imagine to have enjoyed the Divine ecstasy. It is mere ignorance. They are utterly wrong. This sort of worship and union is not at all Kundalini Yoga. They divert their concentration on sexual centres and ruin themselves. Some foolish young boys practise one or two Asanas, Mudras and a little Pranayama too for a few days, in any way they like, and imagine that the Kundalini has gone up to their neck. They pose as big Yogis. They are pitiable, self-deluded souls. Even a Vedanti (a student of Jnana Yoga) can get Jnana Nishtha only through awakening of the Kundalini Sakti that lies dormant at the Muladhara Chakra. No superconscious state or Samadhi is possible without awakening this primordial energy, whether it is Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga or Jnana Yoga.
It is easy to awaken the Kundalini, but it is very difficult to take it to Sahasrara Chakra through the different Chakras. It demands a great deal of patience, perseverance, purity and steady practice. The Yogi who has taken it to Sahasrara Chakra, is the real master of all forces. Generally Yogic students stop their Sadhana half-way on account of false Tushti (satisfaction). They imagine that they have reached the goal when they get some mystic experiences and psychic powers. They desire to demonstrate such powers to the public to get Khyati (reputation and fame) and to earn some money. This is a sad mistake. Full realisation alone can give the final liberation, perfect peace and Highest Bliss.
Different methods of awakening the Kundalini by Hatha Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga will be described one by one. Some aspirants will not get perfection by only one method. A harmonious combination of all methods is necessary for the vast majority of persons. In the following pages I will tell you the different exercises that are intended to awaken the Kundalini. If you are wise enough, after a perusal of the different exercises, you can easily pick up the right method of Sadhana that suits you best and attain success.
Rousing of Kundalini and its union with Siva at the Sahasrara Chakra effect the state of Samadhi and Mukti. Before awakening the Kundalini, you must have Deha Suddhi (purity of body), Nadi Suddhi (purification of Nadis), Manas-Suddhi (purity of mind) and Buddhi Suddhi (purity of intellect). For the purification of the body, the following six exercises are prescribed:
Dhauti, Basti, Neti, Nauli, Tratak and Kapalabhati. These are known as Shat-Karma or the six purificatory exercises in Hatha Yoga.
1. Dhauti
Purification is of two kinds: Antar-Dhauti (internal cleaning) and Bahir-Dhauti (external cleaning). Antar-Dhauti can be made in three ways. Take a fine piece of muslin cloth, 3 inches wide and 15 feet long. The borders should be stitched well and no pieces of loose thread should be hanging from its sides. Wash it with soap before use and make it clean. Dip it in tepid water. Squeeze out the water and swallow one end of it little by little. On the first day swallow only one foot. Keep it there for a few seconds and then take it out very slowly. On the next day swallow a little more and keep it for a few minutes and then take it out slowly. Thus little by little you can swallow the whole length, retain it for about 5 minutes and then take it out. Do not be hasty. Do not injure your throat by rough handling. When the Kriya is over drink a cup of milk. This is a sort of lubrication for the throat. This exercise should be done when your stomach is empty. Morning time is good.
You need not practise this every day. Once in 4 days or a week is sufficient. This exercise cannot at all do any harm if gradually practised. Everyone will feel a little vomiting sensation on the first 2 or 3 attempts. As soon as the Kriya is over, wash the cloth with soap and keep it always clean. This is an excellent exercise for those who are of a flabby and phlegmatic constitution. Gradual steady practice cures Gulma, gastritis, dyspepsia, diseases of the stomach and spleen, disorder of phlegm and bile. This exercise is also known as Vastra Dhauti. This is one variety of Antar-Dhauti.
There are some people who can drink plenty of water and pass it through the anus immediately. It is called Varisara Dhauti. This is an effective method. This exercise is also known as ‘Sang Pachar Kriya’. Yogi Sambhunathaji of Kishkindha is an expert in this Kriya. This is not possible for the vast majority of persons. Nauli and Uddiyana Bandha should be combined for performing this exercise. Even the smoke of a cigarette can be passed out through the anus.
Drink a large quantity of water and shake the abdominal portions. Contract the stomach and vomit the water. This exercise goes with the name ‘Kunjara Kriya’. This is also a kind of purificatory exercise.
Internal cleaning can be made also by swallowing air. Fill up the stomach with plenty of air. It is done by hiccough. Just as you swallow food little by little, so also you can swallow air and fill up the stomach and intestines. You will have to learn this from the man who can do this Kriya. When you contract the abdominal muscles, the air will pass away through the anus as Apana Vayu. Those who can fill up their stomach with air, can float on water just like a dead body and can also live on air and water alone for some days without any food. Those who can do Antar-Dhauti in any way, need not go in for any purgative or laxative. They will never suffer from indigestion or constipation.
There are some other Dhautis, viz., Danta Dhauti (cleaning the teeth), Jihva Dhauti (cleaning the tongue), Karna Dhauti (cleaning the ears), Mula Sodhana Dhauti (cleaning the anus), etc. These are being done by you all everyday. I need not tell you much about these.
2. Basti
‘Basti’ exercise is intended to serve the purpose of ‘enema’ to pass out the accumulation of faeces from the intestinal canal. There are two varieties, viz., Sthala Basti and Jala Basti.
STHALA BASTI: Sit on the ground and catch hold of your toes with fingers. Do not bend the knees. This is exactly like the Paschimottanasana, but here you need not bring your head to the knees. Assuming this posture, churn the abdominal muscles and dominal muscles and expel the water. It cures uriter muscles. This is Sthala Basti.
JALA BASTI: This is more effective than Sthala Basti. Take a small bamboo tube, five inches long. Lubricate one end of it with vaseline, oil or soap. Sit in a tub of water or in a tank in knee-level of water in Utkatasana. Insert the bamboo tube about 2 or 3 inches into the anus. Contract the anus. Draw the water into the intestines slowly. Shake the abdominal muscles and expel the water. It cures urinary troubles, dropsy, constipation, etc. You should not do this everyday and make it a habit. This is only for occasional use. Do this in the morning hours before taking meals. If you do not know how to draw in the water through the tube, then you can use the ordinary syringe that is available in the market. By the use of the bamboo, you will know the method of drawing water through the anus. But in the enema syringe water is being pushed in by the help of air. That is only the difference but the result is the same in both cases. By using the bamboo tube you can have mastery over the intestinal muscles by drawing in and pushing out the water at your command.
3. Neti
‘Neti’ exercise is intended for the purification of the nostrils. The nostrils must be kept always clean. Unclean nostrils will lead you to irregular breathing. Irregular breathing will make you sick.
Take a fine piece of thread about 12 inches long. There should not be any knot in the middle of the thread. It should not be too thin and weak. Insert one end of it into the right nostril and catch hold of the other end firmly. Make a forcible, continuous inhalation and pass it inside. Then slowly pull it out. Again in the same way pass it through the left nostril and take it out slowly. Do not injure your nostrils through violent pulling. After some practice, pass the thread through one nostril and take it out through the other. In the beginning you will begin to sneeze profusely when you insert the thread into the nose. This passes off after 3 or 4 attempts. This can be practised when you find that your nostril is blocked from cold.
There is another easy method of cleaning the nostrils. Take some cold water in your hand or in a wide-mouthed cup. Draw the water slowly through the nose and expel it forcibly through the nose. There are many who can do this quite easily. After one or two attempts some persons may suffer from slight cold and cough when they begin to learn this. As soon as they are all right, again, they can practise.
You have seen many who draw the smoke of a cigarette through the mouth and pass it by the nose quite easily. If cigarette users try, they can draw the smoke through one nostril and pass it out by the other nostril or by the mouth. In the same way water also can be passed quite easily.
Drawing water and expelling it through the nose is known as ‘Seet-Krama’. If you draw water through the nose and expel it through the mouth, it is called ‘Vyut-Krama’. In Gheranda Samhita it is stated that this Neti Kriya purifies the skull and produces clairvoyance (Divya Drishti). Rhinitis and coryza are also cured thereby.
4. Nauli
Nauli Kriya is intended for regenerating, invigorating and stimulating the abdominal viscera and the gastro-intestinal or alimentary system. For the practice of Nauli you should know the Uddiyana Bandha. Uddiyana can be done even in a sitting posture; but Nauli is generally done while standing.
Stage I: Do a strong and forcible expiration through the mouth and keep the lungs completely empty. Contract and forcibly draw the abdominal muscles towards the back. This is Uddiyana Bandha. This is the first stage of Nauli. Uddiyana Bandha terminates in Nauli.
For practising Nauli, stand up. Keep the right leg a foot apart from the left leg. If you keep up the feet close together, at times you may lose the balance and stumble down. Rest your hands on the thighs, thus making a slight curve of the back. Then do Uddiyana Bandha. Do this for one week before proceeding to the next stage.
Stage II: Now allow the centre of the abdomen free by contracting the left and right side of the abdomen. You will have all the muscles in the centre in a vertical line. This is called Madhyama Nauli. Keep it as long as you can with comfort. Do only this much for a few days.
Stage III: Here you should contract the right side of the abdomen and allow the left side free. You will have the muscles on the left side only. This is called Vama Nauli. Again contract the left side muscles and allow the right side free. This is Dakshina Nauli. By having such gradual practices, you will understand how to contract the muscles of the central, left and right sides of the abdomen. You will also notice how they move from side to side. In this stage you will see the abdominal muscles only in the central, right or the left side. Practise this stage for a week.
Stage IV: Keep the muscles in the centre. Slowly bring to the right side and then to left side in a circular way. Do this several times from the right to left side and then do it in a reverse way from the left to right side. You should turn the muscles always with a circular motion slowly. When you advance in the practice you can do it quickly; but you can derive full benefits of this Kriya when you do it very slowly and gradually. This last stage of Nauli will appear like ‘churning’ when the abdominal muscles are isolated and rotated from side to side.
Beginners will feel slight pain of abdomen in the first two or three attempts. They need not fear and stop the practice. The pain will vanish away in 2 or 3 days. When Nauli is demonstrated by the advanced Yogic student, the onlookers will be extremely surprised to look at the movements of the abdominal muscles. They will feel as if an engine is working in the abdominal factory.
When beginners want to do Dakshina Nauli, they should slightly bend towards the left side and contract the left muscles. When they want to do Vama Nauli, let them bend a little to the right side. In Madhyama Nauli, push the entire muscles forward by contracting the two sides.
This exercise is not at all possible for those who have a barrel-like belly. When they find it difficult to carry their own belly, they cannot at all dream of getting success in this Kriya. They can also try by gradual slow practice. For getting success, they must exert hard and have rigorous practice for a long time. Those who have a tender body can very easily learn and perform this Kriya in a beautiful and efficient manner.
In the famous Hardwar cosmopolitan platform where Punjabis and Bengali Baboos stroll in the evening with their ladies, on the banks of the Ganges, some persons demonstrate Nauli and various other Asanas and Mudras for the sake of a few pies only. They pass on from one exercise to the other very quickly. You will find the same in Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay, Madras and in all the busy centres. This is only a sort of profession. It is not at all Yoga. It is only a variety of physical feats. From the very condition of their body you will find that they do not possess all the qualifications and aims of a Yogi, They do not even appear physically better, since they are habituated to intoxicant drinks, Ganja, Bhang, etc.
If the Yogic exercises are done in the right way with the right mental attitude, it will surely lead you to spiritual growth. Nauli Kriya eradicates chronic constipation, dyspepsia and all other diseases of the gastro-intestinal system. Nauli helps Sang Pachar and Basti Kriya also. The liver and pancreas are toned. The kidneys and other organs of the abdomen function properly. Nauli is a blessing to humanity. It is a sovereign specific ‘uni-all’ or an ideal ‘pick-me-up.’
5. Trataka
‘Trataka’ is steady gazing at a particular point or object without winking. Though this is one of the six purificatory exercises, it is mainly intended for developing concentration and mental focusing. It is very useful for the students of Hatha Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Raja Yoga. There is no other effective method for the control of the mind. Some of the students who claim that they belong to Jnana Yoga, neglect such important exercises since they are described under Hatha Yogic portions. Sri Ramana Maharshi the famous Jnani of Tiruvannamalai, was doing this exercise. You could have seen it clearly if you had been to his Ashram for his Darshan. While seated on his sofa in his room, he used to gaze on the walls. When he sat on the veranda in an easy-chair, he steadily looked at the distant hills or at the sky. This enabled him to keep up a balanced state of mind. Nothing could distract his mind. He was very calm and cool always. He was not at all distracted by any one even though his Bhaktas might be talking and singing by his side.
EXERCISES
(1) Keep the picture of Lord Krishna, Rama, Narayana or Devi in front of you. Look at it steadily without winking. Gaze at the head; then at the body; then at the legs. Repeat the same process again and again. When your mind calms down look at a particular place only. Be steady till tears begin to flow. Then close the eyes and mentally visualise the picture.
(2) Gaze on a black dot on a white wall or draw a black mark on a piece of white paper and hang it on the wall in front of you.
(3) Draw the picture Om (!) on a piece of paper and have it before your seat. Do Trataka on it.
(4) Lie down on an open terrace and gaze at a particular bright star or on the full moon. After some time, you will see different colours of lights. Again some time later, you will see only a particular colour throughout, and all other surrounding stars will disappear. When you gaze at the moon, you will see only a bright moon on a black background. At times you will see a huge mass of light all around you. When gazing becomes more intense, you can also see two or three moons of the same size and at times you cannot see any moon at all even though your eyes may be wide open.
(5) Select at random any place in the open sky in the morning or evening hours and gaze at it steadily. You will get new inspirations.
(6) Look at a mirror and gaze at the pupil of your eye.
(7) Some people do Trataka at the space between the two eyebrows or at the tip of the nose. Even during walking, some persons do Trataka at the tip of the nose.
( Advanced students can do Trataka at the inner Chakras, (Padmas). Muladhara, Anahata, Ajna and Sahasrara are the important centres for Trataka.
(9) Keep a ghee-lamp before you and gaze at the flames. Some astral entities give Darshan through the flames.
(10) Very few Yogins do Trataka on the sun. It requires the help of an experienced man by their side. They begin to gaze on the rising sun and after gradual practice they do Trataka on the sun even in the midday. They get some special Siddhis (psychic powers) by this practice. All are not fit for this Sadhana. All the first 9 exercises will suit everyone and they are harmless. The last one, sun-gazing should not be attempted until you get the help of an experienced man.
INSTRUCTIONS
When you do the practice in your meditation room, sit in your favourite Asana (posture), Siddhasana or Padmasana. At other times you can do in a standing or sitting posture. Trataka can be profitably done even when you walk. As you walk along the streets, do not look hither and thither. Gaze at the tip of the nose or toes. There are many persons who do not look at the face when they talk to others. They have their own gaze at a particular place and talk. No particular Asana is required for this Sadhana.
When you gaze at a picture, it is Trataka. When you close your eyes and mentally visualise the picture, it is Saguna Dhyana (meditation with form). When you associate the attributes of God such as omnipresence, omnipotence, omniscience, purity, perfection, etc., the name and the form of the object of Trataka will automatically disappear and you will enter into Nirguna Dhyana (abstract meditation).
Do Trataka for two minutes to start with. Then cautiously increase the period. Do not be impatient. Gradual steady practice is required. Gazing at a spot even for three full hours continuously counts for nothing, if the mind is wandering. The mind also must be on the spot. Then only you will advance in this practice and attain many psychic powers.
Those who cannot gaze steadily for a second in spite of several attempts, need not worry much. They can close their eyes and gaze at an imaginary spot at the space between the two eyebrows.
Those who have very weak eye-capillaries should do Trataka after closing their eyes on any imaginary spot within or without. Do not tax your eyes by over-practice. When you feel tired, close your eyes and keep your mind on the object of Trataka. When you sit and do Trataka do not shake the body.
Trataka improves eyesight. Many who had some eye-troubles have realised immense benefits by Trataka. Going beyond one’s own power and gazing at the sun without any help may produce serious troubles. For gazing on the sun you must have your guide by your side. The Guru will prescribe some oil to rub on your head to avoid such serious troubles and to cool the system. You should apply honey to your eyes at night when you practise sun-gazing.
The same object of gazing will appear as something else during the practice. You will have many other visions. Different people have different experiences. You will not even believe certain things when others tell you of their experiences. Trataka alone cannot give you all Siddhis. After the control of the mind, when it becomes steady, you will have to manipulate the mind by prescribed methods for the attainment of powers. Therefore the powers that are obtained by this practice may vary in different persons. It depends upon the further training of the mind, in a particular way.
Young aspirants, who pose as big Yogins, neglect such practices and ask whether this practice is Moksha. Certainly that practice itself is not Moksha. Different practices are for the attainment of Moksha. One can attain the goal by a particular method, others by different methods. Remember this point always. Otherwise you will be neglecting all the methods. You will be misguided and lose the goal if you neglect the Sadhana.
By the practice of Trataka, diseases of the eyes are removed. Eye-sight improves. Many have thrown away their spectacles after taking to this practice. Will-power is developed. Vikshepa is destroyed. It steadies the mind. Clairvoyance, thought-reading, psychic cure and other Siddhis are obtained very easily.
Once again I will tell you that Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, etc., are not incompatibles like Cocaine and Soda Bicarbonate. They are not antagonistic to each other. Do not neglect this exercise for the mere reason that it comes under Hatha Yoga portions. Even though you may claim to be a student of Jnana Yoga or Bhakti Yoga, you can take to this practice. It is a very effective powerful remedy for a wandering mind. It prepares the mind undoubtedly for perfect Dhyana and Samadhi. This is assuredly a means for the end. You must ascend the Yogic ladder or stair-case step by step. Several persons have been benefited by this useful exercise. Why not you, also, dear friend, sincerely attempt to practise this from this moment? I have given you different exercises for Trataka. Select any one of the methods that suits you best and realise the spiritual benefits. Do this for one month regularly and let me know your experiences, benefits and also troubles, if any.
6. Kapalabhati
Kapalabhati is an exercise for the purification of skull and lungs. Though this is one of the Shat-Karmas (six purificatory exercises), yet it is a variety of Pranayama exercises.
Sit in Padmasana or Siddhasana. Keep the hands on the knees. Perform Puraka (inhalation) and Rechaka (exhalation) rapidly. Those who can do Bhastrika Pranayama can easily do this. In Bhastrika there is a Kumbhaka (retention of breath) for a long time at the end of the required rounds. But in Kapalabhati there is no Kumbhaka. Again in Kapalabhati, Puraka is very long and mild, but Rechaka is too quick and forcible. In Bhastrika, Puraka is done as quickly as Rechaka. This is the only difference between Kapalabhati and Bhastrika. In Kapalabhati, Rechaka should be done forcibly and quickly by contracting the abdominal muscles with backward push. To start with, have only one expulsion per second. In the beginning do 10 expulsions per round. Gradually increase 10 expulsions to each round till you get 120 expulsions for each round.
It cleanses the respiratory system and nasal passages. It removes spasm in bronchial tubes. Consequently Asthma is relieved and cured also in course of time. Consumption is cured by this practice. Impurities of the blood are thrown out. The circulatory and respiratory systems are toned to a considerable degree. Shat-Karmas are intended for the purification of the body. When Nadis are impure Kundalini cannot pass from the Muladhara to Sahasrara Chakra. Purification of Nadis is effected through Pranayama. For Pranayama, you should know well about Prana.

Re: The Health Thread
Cleanliness physically can lead to tremendous cleanliness psychologically. And I feel that modernity has tried to turn it around and put far to much emphasis on the mind and how you feel. A toxic and crippled mind cannot "think" itself back into balance. So I think this physical to mental to spiritual route is the correct way for incarnated spiritual beings now experiencing physical reality in their current genetic and physical expression. And Kundalini is the appropriate Indian term for this.
I personally ignored the diet effect on body most of my times, and relied on mind only , but having carried out recent experiments on myself with diet, i could identify on myself that excess sweets taken by habit or by unifying influence of present company , tends to inhibit digestion and waste disposal , tends to tiredness and most revealingly tends to the "manyana" syndrome when it comes to self discipline , the emphasis being on " tends " in my case, but i noted subtle changes in lifestyle experience for the better by applying attention to my diet
So diet awareness, general consciousness of order and tidyness in ones abode and work , exercise and relaxation awareness, sexual energy awareness , dream awareness and the evolution of psychological / emotional / spiritual awareness are all on my own menu
But there is some excellent info above, im going to preserve the kundalini piece till tomorrow for a read
Golden revealing Qsc , makesw sense to meThis should be man's religion of the self...and what we should have all the time to dedicate our lives to should we wish it. Who knows what the spiritual experience and evolution would be resultant.
A wonderful entryAnd this would be my dedication to the forum's creed...
Colon cleansing Hmmmm how do you know if you need it ? or just do it as a maintenance

Ah, but more importantly to consider than what you are now choosing to eat or will continue to eat is what type of effect on your health and consciousness does one of these green/black slimetrails of toxic mucous with the potential strength and consistency of car tire rubber that can barely be cut with a knife and sometimes reach lengths of 6 to 12 to 25 feet in length have upon you. Anderson's book will explain eloquently the deep metaphysics and psychology of this...it is very well done and I believe will resonate with you particularly well.
A good diet will not remove this as it hampers the benefit of a good diet...and this is blocking absorption of your good foods you eat and possibly harboring parasites which are also depleting the system by competing against you for nutrients. It is also a continuing source of toxic seepage into the system and your colon's very cells in contact with it over years will begin to change them to pre-cancerous and then cancerous lesions.
Their removal and the effects of a few cleanses over a years time would reveal what the effect might be on health and consciousness. What dark vortices of vibrational death energy is constantly being given off by an internal deposit of toxic kryptonite?
Good question.Colon cleansing Hmmmm how do you know if you need it ? or just do it as a maintenance
Let me put it to you this way.
You know how "well" you are now.
You now have reviewed, in short, the information.
Add these together.
Now ask yourself...Do you feel you need it?
As far as how to do it. Well there are many different cleanses now on the market and the more sophisticated methods tend to all try to simulate Dr. Anderson's method.
Guess what? You just can't buy his stuff and jump right into it. Doesn't work that way.
Preparations must be made first.
Step 1...
Read over both of his websites for an overview and to gain understanding...
http://www.ariseandshine.com/
http://cleanse.net/
Step 2...
Read the very well-written and laid out explanation of the Cleanse in this online guide...
http://www.ariseandshine.com/Cleanse28Guide.pdf
Step 3...
If you are now interested and believe this is something you could commit yourself to pursuing you will then have to read his book prior to ordering anything or doing any cleanse. In my opinion, this is crucial to read his book first. It can also be ordered through Amazon.
http://www.ariseandshine.com/cleanseandpurifythyselfbook1.aspx
Step 4...
If you have now read through the book a couple times, you must now make the decision that this is worthy for you to do.
Step 5...
You will have to become comfortable with the idea that an enema bottle, a home colema board, and/or the services of a professional colonic irrigation therapist will be important and most beneficial to coincide with your cleansing. You will be getting very intimate with yourself...some people are not actually cut out for that "depth" of exploration. Unless you have the art of standing in a stream while sucking and expelling water up your ass with the power of your sphincter...a rare skill indeed.
Step 6...
Initial testing of your body's Ph levels from saliva and urine with special paper strips will determine your present level of health and where you can begin with your cleanse. If your system is extremely acid most of the time, you may actually need to start eating a diet supporting more alkalinity for a couple weeks even up to three months in advance of doing the cleanse. Otherwise your released toxins will overload your body's ability to dispose of them. And you will actually feel like you are coming down with illnesses like colds, flu and other symptoms from what is called a "cleansing reaction". You want to clean at your own pace without experiencing these. Once you are Ph testing in an ideal range, then you decide which phase of the cleanse you want to begin. At this point deciding which products you need comes into play.
Anderson sells many products but for you first cleanse the kit and a couple additions are all that is needed. There are distributors for this who can give a cheaper price than the website offers. Contact me for the name of a good one that I know. She provides good support information when you have questions. Don't become distracted with getting any more product than what you need for you cleanse. And perhaps consider investing in a low-cost enema bag and make an appointment or two with a colon therapist during your cleanse.
It is in my opinion, when done correctly that these measures may result in some of the most profound improvements regarding your health and how you feel over anything else you may choose to do.
But you have a lifetime of super-adhering toxicity in your colon and in your body.
The slime can start to come out with the first cleanse, but sometimes a second or third may be necessary. It also depends on which phase you were able to begin with, but it is important not to pick a phase that is more than your body can handle and there are ways to drop down from one to another should you need to lighten it, or increase it. Again, you will become intimate with yourself in this regard. I would put it in the context that a year will be dedicated to at least three cleanses of about ten days each spread apart and each cleanse being helped with 2 appointments to a colon therapist, which would be six total colonics and three total cleanses in that first year's time. It is an expense and a discipline. And I would also stick very closely to the alkaline non-mucous forming foods suggested in the online guide (link provided above). I would actually minimize my animal food and dairy consumption and would almost be a short-term vegetarian during this year. In between cleanses I would strictly eat small portions of very good quality animal food with lots of vegetables, preferably in broths or soups with the bones boiled to get added nutrition but with less blood or muscle fiber to have to process. I would probably only have one measuring cup of fermented raw milk and not drink large amounts of plain non-fermented raw milk, or avoid it altogether. In between cleanses, I would also take small daily doses of MMS supplement as directed in a most conservative application.
Your first year you could do a ten day cleanse every three or four months. See what happens. Stick with good food so each cleanse builds upon the rest with better results so that you aren't just re-introducing the same foods that caused toxicity. For maintenance, once you feel you are cleaned out, is really up to you. I would say as often as once ever three to four months, to twice a year, to once a year. But I would put once a year as a minimum should you find the practice has benefit for you.
My last colonic was three months ago. I will be doing the cleanse in late January. When I just get a colonic with water and not even using the cleanse program I get a change in my body about two or three hours later. My legs feel young. There is a diminishing and disappearance of stiffness in my feet, knees and legs. The feel light, strong, and "young". I don't realize the stiffness I have because I am used to it. But after a colonic and a few hours the lower extremities do become, undoubtedly, changed and transformed for me. It is really a freaky thing to have something work like that. Results may vary.
So you can try that and see if you feel different. Find a licensed or competent colonic therapist in your area. Most have a quality machine built for it and disposable suppository pieces for your session. I have paid anywhere from $50 to $75 for a session. If comfortable with them and the experience then let them know you have a cleanse program you are committed to and will be using their services in the future.

Re: The Health Thread
Let's get down and dirty. This man sums it up, and others have known for thousands of years that cure comes through elimination as I posted before.
I'll definitely look into his work, thanks for the info will get to the videos, yoga and kundalini later. There are other products out there that do the job of cleansing and rebuilding like his but less expensive. I used to eat super healthy like you, changed some things though, good for you! I've heard of the mucoidal buildup, and he is right the medical establishment has ignored it and don't even care to come up with a name for it. I guess they will do anything to keep a person sick so they can continue giving one their drugs. They may be trying to tell people that cleansingoneself will do no good and one is not getting rid of the mucoidal plaque and it's a hoax. But most who are practitioners of nutrition would never say that.
A few of my comments on his quotes.....eating meat is normal and what our digestive tract was first made to do. Throughout millions of years perhaps folks changed to vegetarians, but then when the going got tough out there people had to hunt animals for food so the body had to adapt to that and why some blood types or ethnicities cannot go long without eating meat. They found some kind of mechanism that does something to them, I'll dig that up. But i'm sure if they changed their diet slowly to not eating meat then they can become full fledged vegetarians as the body will adapt
His points on vegetarianism are true, meat does increase testosterone so one can get more agressive. Plus meat
is now being cooked so more disease results, and weakness occurs. But if done like the natives have always prepared their meat, like pimmican, then one will be very strong. And there have never been any problems or diseases created by eating meat this way.
An emminent bacteriologist of England, Edward Bach, relate intestinal toxemia to many chronic disseases as
I stated in my other post. He actually created vaccines using the different bacteria in a person, virtually
what homeopathy does, and cured many chronic conditions. The person who coined bact, Hahnemann was the first modern physician to pay attention on hygiene.
Yes, those children with ADHD are really anemic and if their diet changed so will the mind.
Same thing with autism, I heard of a few cases of healing autism through diet changes and cleanses.

I think most mental conditions would disappear through diet and the appropriate health practices. This is the gnosis.
