7:45 amA favorite observation of mine sort of fits here. It is that ignorance is infinite but knowledge is finite. This is an indisputable fact almost always overlooked. I have never heard it from anyone else. It is also true that what is being talked about here is somehow related to the process of discovery and to scientific research. I am a mathematician. In research one is usually utterly lost for a time. One has no idea of what assumptions one must make or what definitions one needs or even what the problem is or if indeed there is a problem. Once you understand how to articulate the problem you can usually easily solve it.

7:51 amI think an important distinction was missed here. Yes, we are all ignorant of many things, and most people recognize when they don't know how to answer a question or solve a problem -- even people with limited intelligence will do this. Also, most people understand there are things that we can not know; questions that even people who have studied the subject in great depth have no answer for -- and then there are the kinds of things that only religious faith purports to answer.

I think what Dunning is trying to get at is that some people have barriers to understanding an explanation of something, or a solution to a problem due to bias, and of these there are two general types. Some people have a religious or political belief system that would be undermined by any information that posed a contradiction to it and therefore certain possibilities and explanations are unacceptable -- ideas that other people find perfectly reasonable and sensible are ignored or treated as utter nonsense -- no argument is persuasive, so these people are immune to new information and knowledge.

There are also people with egos and self-esteem so outsized as to prevent them from hearing or accepting any challenge to their will or desires; psychologically they cannot afford to be wrong, or their sense of themselves would crumble. Frequently, their explanation for any error in judgement is that it is somebody else's fault; the test was unfair, the deck was stacked, they have enemies.

The real danger is when the two things are combined -- an intransigent belief system and an outsized ego. Someone like Sarah Palin comes to mind. She is stunningly ignorant and so filled with hubris and a sense of being "called by God" that it prevents her from realizing just how ignorant she is, so every challenge to her thinking is dismissed and derided.

Usually someone like that finally trips over the real world -- fallen preachers are a good example -- or when it comes to megalomaniacal dictators, the world has to rise up and stop them..

I googled "HD283271 G Spectrum" and this site showed up near the top of the list in reference to Seraphim's post of a quote from Wayne Herschel, found under the topic "Symbolism Myths Glyphs and Folklore>Tree of Life" started by quicksilvercresendo.

The funny thing is, when I went to that page it started at the top of the thread with qsc's starting post and in taking but a few modest steps within the domain of DaRythymdom I quickly forgot the reason why I was here in the first place. Only when I got to Seraphim's post at the bottom of the thread did I remember what I was originally looking for and by then it was too late. I had fallen deep into the embrace of a gathering of intelligence much greater than my own.

From one subject to the next, thread after thread, link upon link, on this site I found the topic to every keyword search I've ever made on the internet (and more...much more). As I followed the trails of thought and reflection herein I began to feel as though someone had stolen my manuscript for a book I've been trying to put together, added some rarefied genius and started a god-damned website with it.

I must admit my mixed emotions towards all of this for while I am grateful to have found this site, I'm contemplating dropping my manuscript in the round file. I should've known I couldn't possibly be the proud owner of an original thought. (Don't take me too seriously, I don't.)

What is truly remarkable is when I look at the join dates of the members. Could all of this have been brought together in less than year??? If I ever do finish my book, I'm gonna scrap the bibliography and just put, "Please see DaRythymDivine for all of my sources." Of course, I would never do such a thing without the site's express permission, but I think you get my point.

And then, just when I thought I had entertained all possible notions of conspiracy and as I was finally coming to terms with my reluctant acceptance of such notions to shape my new-found reality, I stumble across tgII's post regarding David McGowan's "Wagging the Moondoggie" and now I have to start all over again in my struggle to comprehend! I give up...

Well no, not really. But I must say my head is spinning. There's only so much I can grasp all at the same time.

In conclusion, one of the most important aspects of this site that compells me to stay, as I am permitted to do so, is the way that this information is presented. Its not flashy or commercial. There's no "song and dance" jumping out at me in the web format. When I go to redicecreations or others like it, I feel like somebody's trying to sell me something. If an idea or a presentation of facts or observations is sound, I don't believe it requires all the "pomp and circumstance."

My regards to the Administration.

A Philosophy of Fear:

The designer of MOSAIC talks about the value of fear-based intuition - you might say the converse of known unknowns. How about "unknown knowns"? - things your subconscious mind knows but your conscious mind does not.





While he makes some insightful remarks, he also seems to be capitalizing on America's paranoia, nor does he discriminate between who he provides his risk assessment services to. Both the CIA and Rand Corp. are satisfied customers, as well as many federal judges and politicians. This is the man behind the psychology of fear and the protection services of the enemies of liberty in our fair nation.

Honestly, I'm on the fence about him...

In the first video, "thats such an amazing commendation from oprah " you want to know the problem with america, its right there in that statement
He makes a good point at 7.40 about panic

But an expert in the prediction and management of violence its the prediction bit that may be dangerous because that means he will be recommending actions for others to take in certain circumstances, but the bottom line being that each persons intuition is absolutely distinct to them and the given situation
Hes trying to create a universal applicable model for the properties of instinct which provides 2 services good and bad , good that hes bringing more awareness to consciousness of such things, bad that it leads to governements taking pre-emptive strikes ....to avoid their expected prediction to come true, easy to see where the area of corruption comes in , predicting the predictions or should i say manipulating them to reach ones own end results of greed

He says what got him into this business , he saw his mother shoot his stepfather at the age of 10 and lots of other violences which gaqve him a certain empathy for victims and allowed his tolerance for danger to be very high , so then while interviewing a mental disturbed patient who begins to bang their head of a wall , he can just be cool and control that empathy in the process of continuing to perceive the person banging their head against the wall............... an empathic reaction ?....maybe but i will have to think about that a bit more

On the philosophy of fear, maybe Gavin de Becker just got conditioned to the causes of it. So used to it that it doesn't bother him mentally anymore. I bet his other selves, or unconscious is aggravated though.
And maybe had to create another self he doesn't know about that is immune to his environment. Some kind of self defense mechanism perhaps.
