All I have to say after reading that, Rainyday is: END THE VATICAN. How many more thousands of years do these irrelevant maniacs need to be around to deny science, hate artists, and is it just me or if the Vatican still had their way: people would still be publicly burned as the stake? Think about it. Are people lining up in droves to become Catholic? (In my best British impersonation) Not bloody likely! It seems every few decades they make a public apology for some heinous crime they've committed against humanity in centuries past, to potentially draw in more members? It's pretty easy to apologize for a pope that's been dead for over a thousand years. The motherfucker probably never forgave 'til his dieing breath. I've narrowed it down to this: The Catholic hierarchy are merely nothing but gay men in dresses, or robes as they like to call them.

The Anti-Defamation League took the Catholic Church to task this week, disputing "historical evidence" cited by Church officials as proof that WWII-era Pope Pius XII had worked to save Jews from the Holocaust.



Pope Pius XII, wearing the ring of St. Peter, raises his right hand in a papal blessing at the Vatican, 1945.

The evidence in question was presented at a conference in Rome in September 2009 and apparently cleared Pius XII of accusations that he was silent in the face of the atrocities taking place in wartime Europe. The conference was held by the Pave the Way Foundation, a group that works to bridge religious divisions.

Yale society's skull-turned-ballot box to be sold

NEW YORK – A human skull that apparently was turned into a ballot box for Yale's mysterious Skull and Bones society is going on the auction block.

Christie's estimates the skull will sell for $10,000 to $20,000 when it is auctioned on Jan. 22. Fittingly, the auction house has agreed to keep the seller's name a secret. On Monday, it described the person only as a European art collector.

The skull is fitted with a hinged flap and is believed to have been used during voting at the famous society's meetings. The auction house said it also may have been displayed at the society's tomblike headquarters on Yale's campus in New Haven, Conn., during the late 1800s.

Skull and Bones, an elite society founded in 1832, has closely guarded its members' names and its activities since the early 1970s. Prior to that time, the group published an annual roster.

Publicly known members, known as Bonesmen, include President William Howard Taft, both presidents Bush, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, businessman and diplomat Averell Harriman, publisher Henry Luce and author and commentator William F. Buckley Jr.

"I think it's a macabre artifact," Margot Rosenberg, head of Christie's American decorative arts department, said Tuesday. "It's an intriguing story tied to America, tied to Yale. I think it will generate interest for people who are former Bonesmen, people who collect Americana, people who are interested in history."

The skull is believed to have been owned by Edward T. Owen, who graduated Yale in 1872 and went to become professor of French and linguistics at the University of Wisconsin. The word THOR is etched into the skull; it may have been the nickname given to Owen or another society member.

The skull is being sold with a black book, inscribed with Owen's name, the year 1872 and the numeral 322, a reference to the society's year of inception and to the death of the orator Demosthenes in 322 B.C. It contains the names and photographs of about 50 Bonesmen, including Taft, who became the 27th president of the United States; Morrison Remick Waite, who became U.S. chief justice in 1874; and William Maxwell Evarts, who served as U.S. secretary of state and U.S. attorney general.

Skull and Bones invites 15 Yale seniors to join each year. Bonesmen swear an oath of secrecy about the group and its strange rituals, which include initiation rites such as confessing sexual secrets and kissing a skull.

On Tuesday, the society's secrecy remained intact. Efforts to reach a society member or a representative of its business arm, the Russell Trust Association, through a Yale spokesman were unsuccessful. The Ivy League school, which is not affiliated with the society, did not return a reporter's call.

An obituary released Wednesday for 35-year-old Jeremy Wise said he was a former Navy SEAL from Virginia Beach, Va., who was working with the company now known as Xe. MindyLou Paresi of Dupont, Wash., said in an interview with The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash., that her husband, 46-year-old Dane Clark Paresi, was also a Xe contractor who was killed.

The restaurant has a great view of the Superstition Mountains. I been searching names and everyone has all the good ones already.
I was thinking Superstition BBQ, but you know, people may be suspicious about what I'm cooking.

I don't know, I'm at a loss for a name. I noticed Flames avatar and thought, oh that's a good name and it would look cool on the sign, but its taken already.
Actually, it's really a good time to invest or lease a building because the prices are low and people are in need of jobs. The economy may be bad, but you really can't tell it because people are still eating out and shopping.

It's a big risk in the restaurant business regardless of the economy. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of money, not to mention the laws, codes and permits.
I've been trying all the BBQ restaurants I can find and I'm sure that I can smoke the competition.

There is a good book about all the styles and many recipes of BBQ called "Smoke and Spice".
I always thought that would make a decent name for a restaurant.
But I would not want to use a name that already exists for legal reasons. But I do think you could use a book title for a restaurant name if no other restaurants or chains use it.

Or with Superstitious BBQ you could make a restaurant and menu theme about the mountains legend's themselves but also the superstitions of the world and its history as a menu theme. Just an idea. Like Lochness Monster Jalapeno Poppers...then include a small caption about the Lochness monster. Some type of menu for ordering with also a table book that people can read up on superstitions while they wait for their food.

Or with Superstitious BBQ you could make a restaurant and menu theme about the mountains legend's themselves but also the superstitions of the world and its history as a menu theme.

Those are great ideas. Yea, it's going to have to be something different and interesting. I'm trying out some of the new equipment next week and working 4 different chefs to create my own sauce brand. I'm hearing that the smokers may be a problem, but I don't know why they would be. I guess I will find out next week.
By the time I get ready to do this, I will be sick of BBQ.

Thank Flames. So far, we're going with Superstition BBQ. It fits the area. There is all kinds of interesting things the about the mtns and the area.
I think it would be a good theme. One of the cool things about the area is that it still has the old time history feeling about it. It's like stepping back in time and there's a more relaxed atmosphere here than in Phoenix.

You know, the crazy thing about this whole project is working with the commercial real estate brokers and the owners of buildings that have been sitting vacant for 2 years. I mean, everywhere you look there's a vacant restaurant building. I guess they think they are made of gold or something.
I'm like, geeze, it's your building. I'm not spending a couple hundred thousand on a building someone else owns just so I can open a restaurant.
Amazing that they would expect it.

One good thing, there's a vote going down this year on legalizing Marijuana. That would definitely help the restaurant industry.

In California and Colorado to name a few, you can get a marijuana i.d. card, go into a grow shop and buy marijuana legally. In some of these states, you don't even need a "terminal illness" to receive an i.d. card, merely a medical ailment.

Not only in just forms of smoking it, but also vaporizers, food, teas, and breath strips, etc... A lot of these patients don't even smoke it, I know because I've talked to some of them

Some people are totally against marijuana as a medical treatment, but not me. No way. Things have really changed, and it's almost impossible to pick up a newspaper and not read about the debates sparking up in every state about this. It's pretty amazing. I hate the current medical industrial complex and it's market only driven goals. My worry is that that big pharma will pull a monopoly and regulate it under their diabolical schemes.

A restaurant is one of the riskiest businesses one can open. But I sure do love good BBQ and this would do well if there is no competition around. I myself do not like smoking my food or having anything added with a smokey flavor when it comes to food. So my BBQ is a bit absent that particular essence. I have a very easy, yet tasty recipe for BBQ sauce...but its a secret...a perfect consistency...and a good blend of tangy, sweet and a just bit of sour. Not too hot but leaves a tingly feeling on the tongue when you are finished with the meal.

The commercial real estate market is going to see a bubble burst just like the home market. As it too, is also carrying a lot of toxic debt.
I am not in the states so I cannot accurately see the picture any longer of just how much this has already taken place and how much more is yet to come....may have already happened. But increasing unemployment will cause the commercial market to decline in stages as well. So hopefully these owners will get to the point where they will beg you to occupy their space just to cover their own bills for maintaining it. Or be willing to dump it. Nothing like owning your own building that you house your own business in.
