The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (Latin: Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici), commonly known as the Knights Templar, the Order of the Temple (French: Ordre du Temple or Templiers) or simply as Templars, were among the most famous of the Western Christian military orders.[3] The organization existed for approximately two centuries in the Middle Ages.

Officially endorsed by the Catholic Church around 1129, the Order became a favored charity throughout Christendom, and grew rapidly in membership and power. Templar knights, in their distinctive white mantles with a red cross, were among the most skilled fighting units of the Crusades.[4] Non-combatant members of the Order managed a large economic infrastructure throughout Christendom, innovating financial techniques that were an early form of banking,[5][6] and building many fortifications across Europe and the Holy Land.

The Templars' existence was tied closely to the Crusades; when the Holy Land was lost, support for the Order faded. Rumors about the Templars' secret initiation ceremony created mistrust, and King Philip IV of France, deeply in debt to the Order, took advantage of the situation. In 1307, many of the Order's members in France were arrested, tortured into giving false confessions, and then burned at the stake.[7] Under pressure from King Philip, Pope Clement V disbanded the Order in 1312. The abrupt disappearance of a major part of the European infrastructure gave rise to speculation and legends, which have kept the "Templar" name alive into the modern day.

After the First Crusade captured Jerusalem in 1099, many Christian pilgrims traveled to visit what they referred to as the Holy Places. However, though the city of Jerusalem was under relatively secure control, the rest of the Outremer was not. Bandits abounded, and pilgrims were routinely slaughtered, sometimes by the hundreds, as they attempted to make the journey from the coastline at Jaffa into the Holy Land.[8]

Around 1119, two veterans of the First Crusade, the French knight Hugues de Payens and his relative Godfrey de Saint-Omer, proposed the creation of a monastic order for the protection of these pilgrims.[9] King Baldwin II of Jerusalem agreed to their request, and gave them space for a headquarters on the Temple Mount, in the captured Al Aqsa Mosque. The Temple Mount had a mystique, because it was above what was believed to be the ruins of the Temple of Solomon.[4][10] The Crusaders therefore referred to the Al Aqsa Mosque as Solomon's Temple, and it was from this location that the Order took the name of Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, or "Templar" knights. The Order, with about nine knights, had few financial resources and relied on donations to survive. Their emblem was of two knights riding on a single horse, emphasizing the Order's poverty.

The Templars' impoverished status did not last long. They had a powerful advocate in Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a leading Church figure and a nephew of André de Montbard. He spoke and wrote persuasively on their behalf, and in 1129 at the Council of Troyes, the Order was officially endorsed by the Church. With this formal blessing, the Templars became a favored charity throughout Christendom, receiving money, land, businesses, and noble-born sons from families who were eager to help with the fight in the Holy Land. Another major benefit came in 1139, when Pope Innocent II's papal bull Omne Datum Optimum exempted the Order from obedience to local laws. This ruling meant that the Templars could pass freely through all borders, were not required to pay any taxes, and were exempt from all authority except that of the Pope.[12]

With its clear mission and ample resources, the Order grew rapidly. Templars were often the advance force in key battles of the Crusades, as the heavily armoured knights on their warhorses would set out to charge at the enemy, in an attempt to break opposition lines. One of their most famous victories was in 1177 during the Battle of Montgisard, where some 500 Templar knights helped several thousand infantry to defeat Saladin's army of more than 26,000 soldiers.[13]

Although the primary mission of the Order was military, relatively few members were combatants. The others acted in support positions to assist the knights and to manage the financial infrastructure. The Templar Order, though its members were sworn to individual poverty, was given control of wealth beyond direct donations. A nobleman who was interested in participating in the Crusades might place all his assets under Templar management while he was away. Accumulating wealth in this manner throughout Christendom and the Outremer, the Order in 1150 began generating letters of credit for pilgrims journeying to the Holy Land: pilgrims deposited their valuables with a local Templar preceptory before embarking, received a document indicating the value of their deposit, then used that document upon arrival in the Holy Land to retrieve their funds. This innovative arrangement was an early form of banking, and may have been the first formal system to support the use of cheques; it improved the safety of pilgrims by making them less attractive targets for thieves, and also contributed to the Templar coffers.[4][14]

Based on this mix of donations and business dealing, the Templars established financial networks across the whole of Christendom. They acquired large tracts of land, both in Europe and the Middle East; they bought and managed farms and vineyards; they built churches and castles; they were involved in manufacturing, import and export; they had their own fleet of ships; and at one point they even owned the entire island of Cyprus. The Order of the Knights Templar arguably qualifies as the world's first multinational corporation

The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ), is the autonomous[1] American branch of a self-styled "Neo-Templar order" called the Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani.[2][3] The ecuminical organization operates as a modern day network of educated professionals.[1] As of August 2007, the organization had approximately 5,200 members.[4] Their goals are the preservation of the holy sites in and around Jerusalem; antiquarian research; charitable works; diplomatic lobbying and intervention. They should not be confused with the masonic Knights Templar, which is a nonrelated organization.

Christian men who join the organisation call themselves "Knights" with the republican honorific of Chevalier and females are termed "Dames" with the republican honorific of Chevaleresse (or Chevalière).[5]

Despite the organization's name, it has never been sovereign, nor is it a military order.

The International Order of the Knights Templar, known throughout the world as Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Herosolymitani (OSMTH), expresses its deepest sympathy to the people of Norway for the horrific events of Friday, July 22. International Grand Master Patrick Rea, International Grand Commander Robert Disney and the Grand Prior of Norway, Stein Tennebø, as well as all members of the Order deplore the senseless acts of terrorism by Anders Behring Breivik and send our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, their friends and the people of Norway.

We all watched in horror and dismay as the shocking images came out of Utøya, Norway – innocent children and adults literally slaughtered at the hands of a rampaging right-wing fundamentalist. This can only be described as a national tragedy of international consequence.

Christ’s message is one of love, understanding and tolerance of all peoples in the World. How Anders Behring Breivik so misunderstood and corrupted Christ’s message is beyond reason or belief. It would appear from various media reports that Anders Breivik belonged to an ultra-right-wing fundamentalist group intent on ridding Europe of its immigrant population. The group “The European Military Order and Criminal Tribunal (the PCCTS - Knights Templar)” bears no relation philosophically or by affiliation to OSMTH – the Knight Templar International. Mr. Breivik is NOT NOW and HAS NEVER been a member of OSMTH.

OSMTH is recognized by the United Nations as the only Knights Templar, non-governmental organization (NGO), which is known for building bridges throughout the world for peace and understanding. Members of OSMTH stand ready to lend a hand to the people of Norway in whatever capacity that their services are needed. OSMTH (Swiss Registry, CH-660.1972999-4) is an Ecumenical Christian Confraternal Order and accredited Non-Governmental Organization.

As a non-political organization, our works are often carried out in partnership with and for the benefit of all peoples regardless of faith, creed or ethnic background. • The Norman conquest of England began on 28 September 1066 with the invasion of England by William, Duke of Normandy. William became known as William the Conqueror after his victory at the Battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066, defeating the King Harold II of England. Harold's army had been badly depleted in the English victory at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in Northern England on 25 September 1066 over the army of King Harald III of Norway. By early 1071, William had secured control of most of England, although rebellions and resistance continued until approximately 1088.

• Following the conquest, [Norman invasion] large numbers of Anglo-Saxons, including groups of nobles, fled the country. Many chose to flee to Scotland, Ireland, and Scandinavia. Members of King Harold Godwinson's family sought refuge at Royal courts in Ireland and Denmark and from there plotted unsuccessful invasions of England. The largest single exodus occurred in the 1070s when a group of Anglo-Saxons in a fleet of 235 ships sailed for the Byzantine Empire. The empire became a popular destination for many English nobles and soldiers as it would have been known that the Byzantines were in need of mercenaries. The English became the predominant element in the elite Varangian Guard, hitherto a largely Scandinavian unit, from which the emperor's bodyguard was drawn and continued to serve the empire until the early 15th century. Some of the English migrants were settled in Byzantine frontier regions on the Black Sea coast and established towns with names such as "New London" and "New York".

• The Varangian Guard were a part of Byzantine Army and personal bodyguards of the Byzantine Emperors from the 10th to the 14th centuries. Initially the guard was composed of Varangians, as the people from over the Baltic Sea were known in the Kievan Rus lands, from where many of them relocated to Byzantium. Most of those original Varangians were Scandinavians, the Vikings who ventured eastward along the rivers of Eastern Europe.

• According to Nordtvedt, most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of I1 lived from 4,000 to 6,000 years ago somewhere in the far northern part of Europe, perhaps Denmark. His descendants are primarily found among the Germanic populations of northern Europe and the bordering Uralic and Celtic populations, although even in traditionally German demographics I1 [Haplogroup Y-DNA] is overshadowed by the more prevalent Haplogroup R.

Charlemagne (Frankish warlord) declared war on the indigenous beliefs of northern Europe, slaughtering tens of thousands of "pagans" to establish his Holy Roman Empire. The Normans converted in the 10th Century- remarkably late for such an ambitious people. The old beliefs went "underground," as opposed to dying out.

There's a certain breed of believer who would have been perfectly at home underground.

That pre-Christian beliefs survived among the Normans is recorded in the incongruous iconography in Norman and Templar churches, Roslyn Chapel (built by the Norman-derived Sinclair family), as well as in sites like Royston Cave.

The saint and the recluse, disdainful of earth and rapt in ecstatic contemplation of heaven, became in popular opinion the highest ideal of humanity, displacing the old ideal of the patriot and hero who, forgetful of self, lives and is ready to die for the good of his country. The earthy city seemed poor and contemptible to men whose eyes beheld the City of God coming in the clouds of heaven.

A general disintegration of the body politic set in. The ties of the state and the family were loosened: the structure of society tended to resolve itself into its individual elements and thereby to relapse into barbarism; for civilization is only possible through the active co-operation of the citizens and their willingness to subordinate their private interests to the common good. Men refused to defend their country and even to continue their kind.

Several groups over the years, whether Christian, Masonic or Occult- have claimed to be the “true” remnants of the Knights Templar. Several sizable organizations refer to themselves as Templars, and use Templar iconography to identify themselves. But in 2004, a shadowy group emerged and claimed that they were the true Knights Templar, and in a formal letter to the Vatican, demanded an official apology from the Catholic Church for their suppression. What separates this group from all the others is that their announcement became a major news story in the British news media and garnered feature stories in major UK papers like the Times of London and the Guardian.

An article ran on November 29, 2004 in the Times, saying:

The letter, signed by the Secretary of the Council of Chaplains on behalf of the Grand Master of the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Jesus Christ and the Temple of Solomon Grand Preceptory...formally requests an apology “for the torture and murder of our leadership”, instigated by Pope Clement V.

“We shall witness the 700th anniversary of the persecution of our order on 13th October 2007,” the letter says. “It would be just and fitting for the Vatican to acknowledge our grievance in advance of this day of mourning.”

It was said that the Pope John Paul II had been given the matter serious attention before his death and that the current Pope, Benedict XVI, had been investigating the British Templar group while as the Cardinal in charge of the Office of the Congregation of the Faith (formerly known as the Office of the Inquisition). So, where in Britain is this Templar group headquartered?

Hertfordshire.

The question then becomes how and why a long-forgotten pagan faith would influence an Elizabethan secret society like the Freemasons, when serious academic work on Mithraism wouldn't be done until the late 19th Century. The questions only deepen when you begin to explore the startling connections between Mithraism and Templarism.

What exactly were the Templars looking for? Why did the Normans-- a Scandinavian people who could fairly be called the founding tribe of Templarism-- chose Northern France, England, Sicily and Syria to establish their kingdoms? What drew them there?

The answer to both questions might well be one and the same.

The Norwegian Pentagram

In 'The Norwegian Pentagram' we can read that from ca. 935 until 1152 an immense pentagram was placed over southern Norway. The Celtic Church in the British isles were the masters of this unique and magnificent architectural achievement.

This giant symbol stretching from the county of 'Trøndelag' to 'Telemark', and from the coast of Norway to the inland of 'Hamar', is possibly made as a part of an occult ritual to fix Christianity to Norwegian soil.

This enormous task was carried out by the Celtic clergy in co-operation with the Norwegian kings Haakon Adelsteinsfostre (Athelstan-fostre), Olav Tryggvason, Olav Haraldsson and others who strived to unify Norway under one king and one religion.

After the Viking-raids on the British isles commenced toward the end of the 8th century, England had steadily become more and more a Nordic country. In a saga from the time of the English king Æthelred 'The Unready' 968-1016 it is stated that the language was the same in England as in Norway and Denmark.

But the languages parted when William the Bastard won England in 1066. The whole country north of the Thames and Watling Street was more or less Nordic.

This was the huge area called the Danelaw. 'Danes' was a name signifying all the Nordic people whether they came from Denmark, Sweden or Norway.

In Northumberland lived both Norwegians and settlers from Denmark. Norwegians also lived in Cumberland and Westmoreland, which was Celtic, and along the coasts of Wales and other places. Saxon England was in reality only the land south of the Thames and the Midlands, a relatively small area surrounded by Nordic and Celtic country.

During the times of Magnus the Barefoot (1073-1103), Nordic language was still being spoken in the Orkneys, the Shetlands, in northern Scotland, the Hebrides, in Galloway and Cumberland, on the coast of Wales and in Ireland.

From these areas came the three 'Christening Kings' of Norway with Celtic clergy as helpers; They came with secret plans now revealed a thousand years later by the author of 'The Norwegian Pentagram'.

The Norwegian Pentagram shows how historical sources and the use of symbols in the Holy Geometry in Norway points back in time towards the Celts of the British isles. The trail leads back even further in time, to a Christian Gnostic sect in the Middle East and Egypt called the Ophites; A sect that flourished during the first centuries of Christianity, and worshipped the serpent as Jesus. The sect was later persecuted and deemed heretics.

When Olav Haraldsson the later Saint Olav left the British isles for Norway, he used the serpent as his symbol. The serpent has from times immemorial been the symbol of the Sun-God. As the sun illuminated mankind on the physical level, the serpent illuminated mankind on the spiritual level. The serpent is the ancient symbol for wisdom and knowledge; it gave man the knowledge of good and evil.

In Revelations 13, verse 18, we learn that the number 666 is the 'number of the beast' and it is the 'number of a man'. It is the number of the evil one, and the evil one is the serpent that seduced Eve into eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge.

In the immense pentagram laid down over southern Norway the number 666 has received a prominent position. And in the old saga - 'Legendary Saga' - the number 666 is, in an occult manner, connected to the death of king Olav II at Stiklestad in the year1030, and to his burial and subsequent canonization.
The stave-churches that are peculiar to Norway have received an embellishment that clearly points to the serpent. All the gable-ends show large serpents heads with tongues playing. The roofs and walls have a remarkable finish with an unmistakable resemblance to snakeskin.

In the ancient Gnostic 'Nag Hammadi Library' that miraculously survived the bonfires of the Roman Church and was found in Egypt in 1945 we find an entirely different story than the one we are accustomed to:

"Then the seven took counsel. They came to Adam and Eve timidly. Then they said to him, "Every tree which is in Paradise, whose fruit may be eaten, was created for you. But beware! Don't eat from the tree of knowledge. If you do eat you will die. After they gave them a great fright, they withdrew up to their authorities.

Then the one who is wiser than all of them, this one who was called "the beast", came. And when he saw the likeness of their mother Eve, he said to her, "What is it that god said to you? Don't eat from the tree of knowledge?" She said "He not only said 'Don't eat from the tree of knowledge,' but 'Don't touch it lest you die'"

He said to her, "Don't be afraid! You certainly shall not die. For he knows that when you eat from it your mind will be sobered and you will become like god, knowing the distinctions which exist between evil and good men. For he said this to you, lest you eat from it, since he is jealous."

Now Eve believed the words of the instructor. She looked at the tree. And she saw that it was beautiful and magnificent, and she desired it. She took some of its fruit and ate, and she gave to her husband also, and he ate too. Then their mind opened. For when they ate, the light of knowledge shone for them…"

The well known story is turned on its head. Jesus has taken the role of the serpent; the serpent that was worshipped by the Ophites.

When sects differing from the Catholic Church were excommunicated and driven away, the Ophites along with many other 'heretic' groups, supposedly sought refuge in Syria. Could the Ophites or other related sects have had offshoots to European areas in the north-west? Maybe as far as the British Isles?

Cumbria in North-Western England is one of the many areas where the Celts and the Norwegians lived side by side for centuries. There we find the 'Serpent Stone'. It is a sandstone sculpture more than 4 feet tall. It shows elements from three different religious cultures: The stone itself has a phallic form; a 'Celtic head' is shown at the top of one face and a serpent striking up the full height of the other face.

Through millennia man has devoted his time to magic. Wearing amulets inscribed with magical signs, words or numbers have been commonplace throughout ancient history right up to our own times; Not least during the middle ages. One of the most commonly used Gnostic-magical symbols was that of Abraxas, a designation for the Almighty. In Greek the letters of the name equates to the number 365: the number of days our world uses on its orbit around the sun. Abraxas has been shown on innumerable amulets with whip in hand, a roosters head, human torso, and serpent legs.

Pentagrams
The Pentagram, a five pointed star, is an ancient holy symbol used by the Egyptians, the Christian Gnostics, the heathen Celts and the Druids whom all used it as a symbol of the divine. The Pythagorean mystics also revered the pentagram, and used it in their seal. This symbol seems to be an important part of 'Holy Geometry'. It has a prominent place in both the geometry of Rennes-le-Chateau in France and of Bornholm in Denmark, and certainly in the Norwegian geometry shown in the book 'Det norske Pentagram' (The Norwegian Pentagram).

The pentagram is a geometric form incorporating the ancient formula 'The Golden Mean' - 1:1,618.

'The Golden Mean' can also be expressed in numbers where, if you start with the numbers 0 and 1 every number is the total of the previous two: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, etc.

These are often called Fibonacci-numbers. Leonardo Fibonacci (ca. 1170 - ca. 1250) being an Italian monk and mathematician.

In Norway as in other countries, the pentagram has been used to ward off evil. It was often inscribed over doors, on beer-barrels, or any other place where one found it of utmost importance to hold evil spirits at bay.

Evil had no power where there was a pentagram to be found but, it had to be drawn or carved in one unbroken line if it was to have an effect.

Christians also used the pentagram: It supposedly stood for the five wounds that Jesus received while hanging on the cross.

At the end of the 1800's the pentagram surfaced as a sign of 'evil'. The French catholic Deacon Alphonse Louis Constant better known by his pseudonym Eliphas Levi, introduced the now well known drawing of the inverted pentagram with the goats head of Baphomet superimposed.



He was an ardent student of the occult, and left the church just prior to his ordination as a priest. The inverted pentagram signifying evil has later been adopted by Satanists as their emblem.




In the book The Norwegian Pentagram the author shows us step by step how the holy geometry placed over the southern part of Norway was constructed. The geometry was carried in effect by placing Norway's first cities according to the ancient formulae 'The Golden Mean' . Towns already in existence before the clergy from the British isles came were removed to new locations, to fit into the new scheme as holy markers in an ingenious geometric symbolism. The result was an enormous pentagram enclosed within a circle measuring 666 miles.




Circle-geometry: Here we can see how the sacred markers of the Norwegian pentagram are united by three circles. For the Ophites the number three was the key to all mysteries. With the Celts also the number three was sacred, and connected with their gods. In the circle-geometry shown here we notice that there are nine sacred points on the three circles i.e. 3x3.

3 is also often referred to as the 'holy' number (holy trinity etc.), 9 being 'thrice' as holy i.e. 3+3+3 = 9.

Concerning the upper left leg of the pentagram, the Dollstein Cave has been described thus: "The Dollstein Cave. Cave in the steep mountain Dollsteinen (681 feet above sea level - 227 m) on the west side of the Sandsøy island, Møre and Romsdal county. The cave facing towards the open sea, has its entrance ca. 180 feet (60 m) above sea level. From the entrance a narrow tunnel leads into a spacious grotto. There are 5 such grottoes separated by narrow passages. The cave is 540 feet long (180 m). Legend has it that the Dollstein Cave continues to Scotland under the sea, and the saga tells us that the Orkney-earl Ragnvald visited the cave in 1127 to look for a treasure supposedly hidden there".

The following is a short extract from the book The Norwegian Pentagram:
"Here were ingredients that stirred the imagination. The mystical cave consisted of five grottoes connected by narrow passages, and the number of the holy pentagram was just that, five! What secrets did the island of Sandsøy have to offer? Did the island have curios undiscovered features that would strengthen what I had already found? What about the connection with Scotland that the encyclopedia had mentioned? Both archaeologists and historians have time and again experienced that myth and legend is not always just fables and bedtime-stories.

Was the island of Sandsøy in some way connected to Scotland? It certainly did have connections with Norway all through the Viking- and medieval times in a very real sense, but connections under the sea? One could of course in ones mind imagine an enormous cave beneath the bottom of the North Sea but it would be safe to rule out that possibility.

The Orkneys were prominently featured all through Norwegian history. Ca. 900 Harald Finehair gave the islands to the Norwegian Ragnvald, the earl of Møre, and for several hundred years the Orkneys were ruled by Ragnvald and his successors, the Orkney-earls. In 1030, one of them earl Ragnvald Brusesson fought on the side of King Olav Haraldsson, the later Saint Olav at the battle of Stiklestad.

I felt there had to be something more to this 'connected to Orkneys under the sea' myth. As we know, the history of Norway during these times is just as much Irish and English history, and not least Scottish history. The saga of Olav Trygvasson and his 'Christening expedition' to the Orkneys come to mind. As we saw earlier he took the three year old son of the Orkney-earl Sigurd and brought him to Norway as a hostage. According to the saga-writer Snorre, Hund (Dog), as the little boys was called, "stayed some years with King Olav and died there".

It is therefore of great interest to notice one of the other legends that pertain to the Sandsøy island in Norway. One thing is that that Scotland supposedly is connected to the Dollstein Cave on Sandsøy, which would be sensational enough, but one becomes just as amazed when one learns that a little 'dog' is supposed to have vanished into the cave, and reappeared in Scotland.

The Dollstein Cave had been on my mind for a long time. I was unable to get the 'Dog' legends out of my mind, and the fact that the Orkney-earl Ragnvald had visited the cave in 1127 looking for hidden treasure. In a sense, the 'Dog' story made a connection between Scotland and the Dollstein Cave, but one might ask: so what? The connection was not strong enough in itself though. There had to be something more to it.

With whetted appetite I studies the small groups of islands in the Atlantic. All these islands the Norwegian Vikings had taken into their possession. They had farmed the land and settled it tending their domestic animals. Some had used the islands as a base for their raids. It was while studying the Faeroe Islands I chanced upon the name Sandsøy again, and I made a mental note of it. Scrutinising the Orkneys again I once more chanced upon the name Sandsøy. Only here it was Sandey, and on the Faeroe's it was Sandø. The Sandø of the Faeroes was nor very sandy, rather it was a large rock rising out of the ocean.

The Norwegian Sandsøy was not of the sandy type either. The only 'sand Island' with any claim to truth, was the one in the Orkneys. As had now become customary I traced lines with pencil and ruler between the 'sand islands'. As so many times before, intuition had led the way. These legends may be an echo from times gone by trying to tell us something we can only try to guess the meaning of. Is there any connection between these two legends? Did the little boy Hund, escape his captures trying to reach home by descending into the deep and dark Dollstein Cave more than a thousand years ago? Did perhaps this little Viking-boy, homesick and lonely die in the attempt to reach his native Orkney?

Perhaps this legend is trying to tell us that there is in fact a connection between the Dollstein Cave and The Orkneys. Let us take a closer look: With the map in front of us we can see that the upper left 'leg' of the Norwegian pentagram ends in the Dollstein Cave on Sandsøy. If we look west across the sea towards the Faeroe Islands we will discover the island of Sandø. So, from Sandsø in Norway to Sandø on The Farroes we draw a pencil line. Now, looking south-east to the Orkneys we find Sandey, and continue our pencil-line across the sea until it hits the sandy spot. From Sandey in the Orkneys draw the pencil-line east across the sea to the southernmost 'leg' of the pentagram in Norway. We have now ended up with a perfect parallelogram!

With the Parallelogram in front of you draw in a diagonal line directly from the cave on Sandsøy in Norway to Sandey on Orkney. The connection from the cave on Sandsøy in Norway to Scotland shows a distance of 333 miles. The connection is 333 miles long! This ties in well with the measurement of the circle encompassing the pentagram which is 666 miles in circumference. And, the internal angles of the parallelogram are a pentagonal 36°.


Hamar, the artificial city
The holy geometry that was constructed over the southern part of Norway was initiated during the first half of the 900's. Two hundred years later, in 1152, the city of Hamar marked the completion of this geometry. Before the Roman Catholic Church gained a foothold in Norway it was decided that two new bishoprics were to be established in Hamar and Nidaros. Nidaros would become an archbishopric.
The Norwegian-Celtic church was not subject to the Roman Catholic Church. Reidar, the man chosen to become the archbishop in Nidaros was sent to the rival of the Roman church, the Greek Patriarch in Constantinople for his consecration. On the way home however, Reidar died under mysterious circumstances somewhere in the 'south'.

Faster than the blinking of an eye, the Roman Catholic Church was on the spot; A representative of the Roman church arrived in Norway with pallium in hand ready and eager to consecrate a new archbishop. It is not unnatural to speculate whether the popes men had intercepted Reidar on his journey and killed him.
The pope's representative sent to Norway on this occasion, was an Englishman named Nicholas Breakspear. He was to become pope himself only two years later, under the name of Adrian IV (1154-1159).

The new bishopric was erected at a place called Hamar, by a large lake in the middle of Norway's wilderness. Normal considerations were ignored when the city of Hamar was built in this location. Hamar would lack the qualifications that had been decisive in establishing other cities: It was placed inland, it was far from the European markets, it was far from the Norwegian markets, and the population basis needed for a town to thrive, was missing. Neither did military strategic considerations necessitate a city in this area. The city of Hamar was planned long in advance by the 'pentagram-clergy'.

HERESIES AND SECRET SOCIETIES: OPHITES AND NAZAREANS

WE shall notice the most important of the Christian secret sects -- the so-called "Heresies" which sprang into existence between the first and fourth centuries of our era.

Glancing rapidly at the Ophites and Nazareans, we shall pass to their scions which yet exist in Syria and Palestine, under the name of Druzes of Mount Lebanon; and near Basra or Bassorah, in Persia, under that of Mendæans, or Disciples of St. John. All these sects have an immediate connection with our subject, for they are of kabalistic parentage and have once held to the secret "Wisdom Religion," recognizing as the One Supreme, the Mystery-God of the Ineffable Name.

Noticing these numerous secret societies of the past, we will bring them into direct comparison with several of the modern. We will conclude with a brief survey of the Jesuits, and of that venerable nightmare of the Roman Catholic Church -- modern Freemasonry. All of these modern as well as ancient fraternities -- present Freemasonry excepted -- were and are more or less connected with magic -- practically, as well as theoretically; and, every one of them -- Freemasonry not excepted -- was and still is accused of demonolatry, blasphemy, and licentiousness.

Our object is not to write the history of either of them; but only to compare these sorely-abused communities with the Christian sects, past and present, and then, taking historical facts for our guidance, to defend the secret science as well as the men who are its students and champions against any unjust imputation.

One by one the tide of time engulfed the sects of the early centuries, until of the whole number only one survived in its primitive integrity. That one still exists, still teaches the doctrine of its founder, still exemplifies its faith in works of power. The quicksands which swallowed up every other outgrowth of the religious agitation of the times of Jesus, with its records, relics, and traditions, proved firm ground for this. Driven from their native land, its members found refuge in Persia, and today the anxious traveller may converse with the direct descendants of the "Disciples of John," who listened, on the Jordan's shore, to the "man sent from God," and were baptized and believed. This curious people, numbering 30,000 or more, are miscalled "Christians of St. John," but in fact should be known by their old name of Nazareans, or their new one of Mendæans.

To term them Christians, is wholly unwarranted. They neither believe in Jesus as Christ, nor accept his atonement, nor adhere to his Church, nor revere its "Holy Scriptures." Neither do they worship the Jehovah-God of the Jews and Christians, a circumstance which of course proves that their founder, John the Baptist, did not worship him either.

And if not, what right has he to a place in the Bible, or in the portrait-gallery of Christian saints? Still further, if Ferho was his God, and he was "a man sent by God," he must have been sent by Lord Ferho, and in his name baptized and preached?

Now, if Jesus was baptized by John, the inference is that he was baptized according to his own faith; therefore, Jesus too, was a believer in Ferho, or Faho, as they call him; a conclusion that seems the more warranted by his silence as to the name of his "Father." And why should the hypothesis that Faho is but one of the many corruptions of Fho or Fo, as the Thibetans and Chinese call Buddha, appear ridiculous?

In the North of Nepaul, Buddha is more often called Fo than Buddha. The Book of Mahawansa shows how early the work of Buddhistic proselytism began in Nepaul; and history teaches that Buddhist monks crowded into Syria(1) and Babylon in the century preceding our era, and that Buddhasp (Bodhisatva) the alleged Chaldean, was the founder of Sabism or baptism.

What the actual Baptists, el-Mogtasila, or Nazareans, do believe, is fully set forth in other places, for they are the very Nazarenes of whom we have spoken so much, and from whose Codex we have quoted. Persecuted and threatened with annihilation, they took refuge in the Nestorian body, and so allowed themselves to be arbitrarily classed as Christians, but as soon as opportunity offered, they separated, and now, for several centuries have not even nominally deserved the appellation. That they are, nevertheless, so called by ecclesiastical writers, is perhaps not very difficult to comprehend.

They know too much of early Christianity to be left outside the pale, to bear witness against it with their traditions, without the stigma of heresy and backsliding being fastened upon them to weaken confidence in what they might say.... Unlucky for Christianity will be the day when some fearless and honest scholar shall persuade their elders to let him translate the contents of their secret books and compile their hoary traditions! It is a strange delusion that makes some writers think that the Nazareans have no other sacred literature, no other literary relics than four doctrinal works, and that curious volume full of astrology and magic which they are bound to peruse at the sunset hour, on every Sol's day (Sunday).

This search after truth leads us, indeed, into devious ways. Many are the obstacles that ecclesiastical cunning has placed in the way of our finding the primal source of religious ideas. Christianity is on trial, and has been, ever since science felt strong enough to act as Public Prosecutor.

What of truth is there in this Theology?

Through what sects has it been transmitted?

Whence was it primarily derived?

To answer, we must trace the history of the World Religion, alike through the secret Christian sects as through those of other great religious subdivisions of the race; for the Secret Doctrine is the Truth, and that religion is nearest divine that has contained it with least adulteration.

We will begin with the Ophites, Nazareans, and the modern Druzes. The personal views of the author, as they will be presented in the diagrams, will be most decidedly at variance with the prejudiced speculations of Irenæus, Theodoret, and Epiphanius (the sainted renegade, who sold his brethren), inasmuch as they will reflect the ideas of certain kabalists in close relations with the mysterious Druzes of Mount Lebanon.

The Syrian okhals, or Spiritualists, as they are sometimes termed, are in possession of a great many ancient manuscripts and gems, bearing upon our presentsubject.

The first scheme -- that of the Ophites -- from the very start, as we have shown, varies from the description given by the Fathers, inasmuch as it makes Bythos or depth, a female emanation, and assigns her a place answering to that of Pleroma, only in a far superior region; whereas, the Fathers assure us that the Gnostics gave the name of Bythos to the First Cause. As in the kabalistic system, it represents the boundless and infinite void within which is concealed in darkness the Unknown Primal motor of all.

It envelopes HIM like a veil: in short we recognize again the "Shekinah" of the En-Soph. Alone, the name of Iao marks the upper centre, or rather the presumed spot where the Unknown One may be supposed to dwell. Around the Iao, runs the legend, "The eternal Sun-Abrasax" (the Central Spiritual Sun of all the kabalists, represented in some diagrams of the latter by the circle of Tiphereth).

From this region of unfathomable Depth, issues forth a circle formed of spirals; which, in the language of symbolism, means a grand cycle, composed of smaller ones. Coiled within, so as to follow the spirals, lies the serpent -- emblem of wisdom and eternity -- the Dual Androgyne: the cycle representing Ennoia or the Divine mind, and the Serpent -- the Agathodaimon, Ophis -- the Shadow of the Light. Both were the Logoï of the Ophites; or the unity as Logos manifesting itself as a double principle of good and evil; for, according to their views, these two principles are immutable, and existed from all eternity, as they will ever continue to exist.

This symbol accounts for the adoration by this sect of the Serpent, as the Saviour, coiled either around the Sacramental loaf or a Tau.As a unity, Ennoia and Ophis are the Logos; when separated, one is the Tree of Life (Spiritual); the other, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Therefore, we find Ophis urging the first human couple -- the material production of Ilda-Baoth, but which owed its spiritual principle to Sophia-Achamoth -- to eat of the forbidden fruit, although Ophis represents Divine Wisdom.

Ilda-Baoth, the "Son of Darkness," and the creator of the material world, was made to inhabit the planet Saturn, which identifies him still more with the Jewish Jehovah, who was Saturn himself, according to the Ophites, and is by them denied his Sinaitic name. From Ilda-Baoth emanate six spirits, who respectively dwell with their father in the seven planets. These are Saba -- or Mars; Adonai -- Sol, or the Sun;(2) Ievo -- the Moon; Eloi -- Jupiter; Astaphoi -- Mercury (spirit of water); and Ouraïos -- Venus, spirit of fire.(3)

In their functions and description as given, these seven planets are identical with the Hindu Sapta-Loca, the seven places or spheres, or the superior and inferior worlds; for they represent the kabalistic seven spheres. With the Ophites, they belong to the lower spheres. The monograms of these Gnostic planets are also Buddhistic, the latter differing, albeit slightly, from those of the usual astrological "houses." In the explanatory notes which accompany the diagram, the names of Cirenthius (the disciple of Simon Magus), of Menander, and of certain other Gnostics, whose names are not to be met with in the Patristic writings, are often mentioned; such as Parcha (Ferho), for instance.

The author of the diagram claims, moreover, for his sect, the greatest antiquity, bringing forward, as a proof, that their "forefathers" were the builders of all the "Dracontia" temples, even of those beyond "the great waters." He asserts that the "Just One," who was the mouthpiece of the Eternal Æon (Christos), himself sent his disciples into the world, placing them under the double protection of Sige (Silence, the Logos), and Ophis, the Agathodæmon. The author alludes, no doubt, to the favorite expression of Jesus, "be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

On the diagram, Ophis is represented as the Egyptian Cnuphis or Kneph, called Dracontiæ. He appears as a serpent standing erect on its tail, with a lion's head, crowned and radiated, and bearing on the point of each ray one of the seven Greek vowels -- symbol of the seven celestial spheres. This figure is quite familiar to those who are acquainted with the Gnostic gems, and is borrowed from the Egyptian Hermetic books. The description given in the Revelation, of one "like unto the Son of Man," with his seven stars, and who is the Logos, is another form of Ophis.

The Nazarene diagram, except in a change of names, is identical with that of the Gnostics, who evidently borrowed their ideas from it, adding a few appellations from the Basiledean and Valentinian systems. To avoid repetition, we will now simply present the two in parallel.

This Christianization process in Scandinavia began in the Vth or VIth century, but as we know they had little success until the IXth century in Denmark, the XIth century in Norway and the XIIth century in Sweden, when the respective populations were officially converted to Christianity, by force and deceit I may add. However, Norway (and the parts of Sweden that until the XVIth or XVIIth century was a part of Norway [Jämtland, Härjedalen, Bohuslän, Idre and Särne]1) wasn't converted to what we normally think of when we say Christianity (id est the Catholic or Greek/Russian Orthodox church), until the XVth century, when Norway became a part of Catholic Denmark.

Before that the Norwegians were so-called Celtic-Christians, and had a Gnostic faith similar to that of the Templars. When the Norwegian kings from 1030 to 1450 canonized people and gave people bishop titles on their own the pope was naturally furious, as this was seen as his task, but why should the Norwegian kings care? They weren't Catholics and didn't answer to the pope anyhow. Norwegian priests were further expected to get married and have children, something that was unheard of in the Catholic world. We even had a female saint; a princess from the British Isles as far as I remember, called saint Sunniva ("Sun Gift", from Anglo-Saxon and Norse "sunn-gifa").

The Celtic church and its Gnostic faith was soon defeated and replaced by Catholicism on the British Isles, but only after they had successfully converted Norway, and for several hundred years Norway was the only so-called Celtic-Christian country in the world! But then most of the Gnostic clergy was killed by the so-called pestilence we know as the Black Death in 1349 and the following years, as they were involved in the treatment of the sick, and because of that were more exposed to the mysterious Black Death than others, and were replaced by Danish Catholic priests when the two countries united in 1450.

This pretty unknown so-called Celtic Christianity explains why you only find stave churches in Norway and parts of Sweden, and only stave churches built before 1349. The Catholics didn't build stave churches. These stave churches were Gnostic churches, built to honour the dragon, the serpent in the garden of Eden, that in the Gnostic Christianity was seen as a symbol of Jesus/Lucifer rebelling against the tyrant we know as Jehovah (or Allah or Yahweh or "God"), the demiurge. The true "God" in their point of view was Abraxas. For that reason the architecture of these churches was so different from Catholic churches; the roofs of the stave churches were covered with something that looked like the skin of a dragon, the crosses were Celtic crosses instead of Catholic crosses, and the stave churches were decorated with serpent-heads! They were temples of the dragon!

The British missionaries in the Viking Age didn't talk about Jesus Christ, but called him "Kvitekrist" ("White Christ"), because they linked him to the "White" disc (the Sun) on the firmament, that they amazingly claimed had the number 666 (like many occultists still claim). To them 666 was the number of the Sun and Jesus! It was this Sun that woke up the serpents (the dragon) in the spring, and when Norway was Christianized the ancient Sun worship merged with the Gnostic faith, and remained the official religion in Norway for more than four hundred years!

I can mention, that when the Templars were persecuted as "devil worshippers" in Europe - amongst other things because they painted 666 on the forehead of skulls and placed them on the altars - beginning in 1189 as far as I remember, mainly in France and England, many Templars fled to Norway, where they found a safe haven and continued to practice their Gnostic faith. The Norwegian kings didn't care what the Catholic pope or any other Catholics said, as they were Gnostics, so the Templars faced no persecution in Norway, and because of that some of the youngest Templar graves in the world can be found in Norway, recognized by the placement of the legs of the dead person in the grave (the legs of the dead are crossed to make up a crucifix). Like the Gnostic priests the knights in the order of the Templars were probably wiped out as a result of the Black Death, as they too were involved in medical care2.

Now, one might wonder why the Catholic Europe didn't force Norway to convert to Catholicism, like they did on the British Isles (including Ireland), but they actually tried to. The Catholic and well-known Adam of Bremen called a Norwegian king, saint Olav, "crow-bone" and claimed he practiced sorcery, which of course he did, as the occult Gnosticism in Norway had merged with ancient Pagan practices. Also, everybody in Norway knows about the conflict between the so-called Birkebeinerne and Bragglerne, which was actually an armed conflict between supporters of the Catholic pope and supporters of the Gnostic king. For some reason unknown to me the Gnostics prevailed, and the thing that finally crushed them was, like I have already said, the Black Death and the incorporation of Norway into Catholic Denmark.

I may add that Norway might have been too poor and primitive for the pope to even bother to continue the fight at that time. Norway lies in the periphery of Europe, it was a very poor area with hardly any infrastructure, industry or wealth - and with hardly any power in Europe at all. "Norway" is the name of the only "way" to get around in Norway at the time: by boat or ship along the coast, the "north-way". It was not easy to get around inland. Besides, it was scarcely populated, so why bother?
With a bit of humour I can say that the only reason it took the Germans a whole month to make Norway surrender in 1940, was the fact that it took them a whole month to walk through the boggy mountains and forests and finally reach their objectives - while it took them a couple of hours to drive across civilized Denmark in motorized vehicles and make them surrender. It is not like we offered them any armed resistance worth mentioning, as our "heroic" (Danish) king and left-wing labour government was too busy running away to London to even order a general mobilization of the Norwegian army.

When Norway became a part of Denmark in 1450 we too became officially Catholics, but the Danes had to send Danish priests to Norway, because there were no Norwegian Catholics. According to the records of history these Danish priests, and other Danish officials, did not have an easy job. They described the Norwegians as "wild" people, and especially the people living in the mountains were "hostile", "unchristian" and "dangerous". One of our inland counties still carries the name "Hedmark", that translates as "The Land of the Pagans". The Danish sheriffs and priests were regularly beaten to death by the Norwegian peasants, and some men even competed against each other, trying to be the one who had killed the most Danish priests and sheriffs. One story from Telemark ("The Land of Thule", another mostly inland county in Norway) tells us that a young man refused to stop until he had killed "at least as many priests as my father killed". This was in the XVIth century! They have also found archeological evidence that some places people made (animal) sacrifices in ancient holy lakes continuously from the Stone or Bronze age and all the way to the XVIIth century!

The explanations of this is of course the fact that Norway was actually never Christianized, as we understand the term. In 1030 they had officially been converted to a faith that was a mix of Pagan beliefs, including Sun worship and a Gnostic form of Christianity. When they met the Danish Catholic priests in the XVth century, who tried to convert them to Catholicism, many of them reacted with violence.

What saved the situation, to some extent, was the Reformation in the early XVIth century. It was more acceptable for the difficult and narrow-minded Norwegians to convert to Protestantism, rather than to the religion of their "oppressors", the Danes. As we know Denmark-Norway became Protestant, and finally most of the "wild" people were slowly Christianized, as we understand the term.

The interesting thing about this, is that the Norwegian people and parts of the Swedish people have never been Catholic! Norway is the only country in Europe that has been neither Greek/Russian-Orthodox nor Catholic. Also, old Pagan religious practices were common as late as the XVIIth and possibly the XVIIIth century. That is quite amazing, and it helps people understand the mentality of the modern Norwegian, and why only 3% of the Norwegian population goes to church (and most of these few church-goers are very old people too, who already have one foot in the grave).

So enjoy this rare insight into the past. If it had not been for "Nazi-pigs" like me You would have never even heard about these things. Think about that for a minute or two.

Celtic Trails Ancient Lineages and Ley Lines in Scotland

I am a tour operator by default, based in Scotland. My love of nature, indigenous cultures and landscapes led me in 1999 to set up Celtic Trails, which has gained a reputation for being more of a facilitating organization for people on a quest for ancient knowledge rather than merely a tourist enterprise. When I began my business, I was interested in Celtic matters—being as I am of completely West Coast Irish stock! I discovered there were many early sites in Scotland that held vestiges of the abodes of Celtic saints, and surprisingly few local people seemed aware of them.

Simultaneous to the process of cataloging a list of Celtic sites in Scotland that were off the beaten track, I was also becoming increasingly aware of a strange pattern of ley lines in the areas where I was traveling in the Scottish countryside. Scholar, reverend and tour director William Buehler, who is a friend of mine, has spent the last thirty-three years investigating sacred geometry and Earth grid design. He invented the term Reshel to describe this intricate pattern. His metaphysical knowledge of early Celtic and Hebrew languages is truly amazing and his term Reshel is used to describe the application of that knowledge as it applies to earth grids of what he calls “Metatronic” vibrations (after the archangel Metatron). It appeared to him that the ley line pattern in Scotland was known to the early Celts as well as later to an inner core of the Knights Templar. Many of the sites I take people to on my day-long tours from Edinburgh are on specific Reshel geometric nodes. The ley lines seem to affect human consciousness and this may explain why conversations during the tour often turn to spiritual matters and personal revelations.

In 2005, Buehler accompanied one of my tours and gave a rare talk on the subject of the Reshel. I took him to Borthwick in Midlothian Scotland where the official cupbearers to the St. Clair clan (who had created the Rosslyn Chapel) lived. The Chapel, and the clan, became known through popular media because of their appearance in the book The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and the subsequent movie version starring Tom Hanks. When Buehler saw a sundial wrongly placed in the early fifteenth century Borthwick aisle, Buehler knew it was done deliberately as a clue to the geometry of the region. Extending the line along the sundial’s plane, he realized that it traversed a group of ancient spirals and other markings in a remote section of the glen adjacent to Rosslyn Chapel. These markings appear to indicate worship of the sun and moon and are on a presently inaccessible cliff on private land. I have known of these markings since the 1980s and have always been drawn to them. When I showed them to an expert from the Smithsonian Institute, he estimated that they dated from before the last Ice Age, at a time in Earth’s history when river levels were higher and canoe-travelers were able to draw images alongside the cliff.

Buehler was pretty sure that the cliff with the ancient markings engraved on it was the center of a specialized heliotrope, which is essentially an etheric mechanism that will track the sun or any planet you point it’s pointed towards so that the energy of that celestial object empowers the site and the entire region is boosted by the phenomena. Appropriately, the line was named the Sun Line. Buehler perused the local map further and eventually produced a diagram of a many-spoked wheel going from the alignment of the cliff images through Roslin Glen to Borthwick, with the center of the wheel positioned on Borthwick. Within that wheel, a major pentagram is clearly seen.

I find that the laws of synchronicity and instant manifestations work exceedingly well with the Reshel when I focus on it. As earth transcends her present frequencies and new higher vibrations enter naturally, many events borne of the evolving earth grids manifest. For instance, a few months after the pentagram was discovered in Midlothian, Crichton Miller, a celebrated author in the field of Celtic hidden history (see his book The Golden Thread of Time), introduced me to the work of Harald Boehlke and his book, The Norwegian Pentagram, originally published in Norwegian. The Norwegian Pentagram, which was recently translated into English under the title The Viking Serpent (Trafford Publishing), tracks the history of a group of early Celtic monks from Britain and Ireland who ventured to Norway in the tenth to twelfth century to build new cities in inhospitable spots with the financial backing of the early Norwegian kings. The book’s English title points to the Viking’s worship of the Serpent/Dragon. Boehlke argues that the essence of Christ is the Serpent and that the Roman Church altered this meaning. The learned Celtic monks of the British Isles, with all their knowledge, had seemingly disappeared only to re-emerge with a movement in the late eleventh century known as the Knights Templar. Boehlke’s well-researched book sheds light on a missing chunk of history and helps bridge a gap in the lineage of this esoteric knowledge. It indicates that cultures, in their quest to sustain knowledge, are always more connected to each other than we think. It also creates a deeper link between the essence of Celtic Christianity and the original Jerusalem Church. There are many legends associated with the specific sites Boehlke found. The overlap of these sites with Beuhler’s Reshel in Scotland has led Beuhler to believe that the pentagram Boehlke unearthed and that he speaks about in his book is yet another specialized heliotrope.

When one location on the Earth is “upgraded” by a new geometric pattern being exposed, other areas follow suit. The far northern lands of Europe are truly a Gaian gateway to the angelic realms. Uncovering these sacred patterns helps the earth at a time when it is needed the most.
