Hahaha. I know exactly what you mean. I was talking to this lady earlier today who asked me if I watched the Grammys last night.

Flames, awkwardly paused and tried to remember wtf the Grammy's were. I never have any idea when the Grammys are on or who is performing, who wins, etc... So she then went on to kind of probe to see if I liked music, because apparently to her, if you aren't aware of the Grammys you hate music.

So the question came up: "Well, what music are you into."

Me: "Trust me, you wouldn't like it."



The look she gave me made my day.

I would say its a film mostly for children, and taking away the pathetic stereotypical and topical marine psychology , i would like to view the 3D effects sometime to see how that goes, but i think the actual heart of the story has very positive aspects to do with consciousness

There are so many really deviant films and tv out there that kill consciousness

Cameron has gone for the blockbuster income and celebrity turbocharge, but hes a balloon egomaniac so goes with the type

I think all the actors sucked especially weaver, maybe the blue female i will give pass marks too, and it wasnt only her lips, what about that navel etc .....thats all tapping into the erotic sensor

Has anyone here ever read the Dune series? Thinking about reading the first book. I remember seeing the movie when I was a kid, it's pretty damned dated for a sci fi movie. But I hear that the book series is wonderful.

Went to the bookstore and rounded up the first three novels. I'm about 100 pages into the original Dune. Would love to start a conversation with you guys about the book series eventually. It will take me awhile, the fist book is over 500 pages, and I'm a slow reader.

I've heard of the Dune series. Sounds great, I would like to hear more about it Flames.

Thought I'd recommend a couple of recent sci fi flicks that have recently come out on dvd, that I've watched this week.

First off I should say that I am no movie expert or authority, and some people get pretty psycho over movies. I simply like movies that I find entertaining, that's all. These two movies aren't exactly blockbusters or anything but I enjoyed them. If one doesn't like sci fi movies, I wouldn't bother recommending watching them. The movies I'm talking about are

1) Pandorum

2) Moon

Of the two movies, I liked Pandorum the best. There are obvious moments of sci fi cheese, but overall I enjoyed the story. It's actually kind of trippy.

Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet's power problems.

I think people who enjoyed bits and pieces of 2001: A Space Odyssey, might enjoy Moon, especially the scenes in 2001, where the guy is alone in his spacecraft and is like fighting that computer HAL. Moon is sort of similar to that.

I liked Doctor Who, but then I got way behind! Will have to check those out!

I have no idea why this particular clip makes me laugh the way I do. I guess, in the back of my mind, I pretty much picture a "war room" with maniacs like this. Kind of like Dr. Stragelove, only strangelovier.

I really don't understand how things have got so bad. This piece here really did it for me, because I was programmed not to tolerate those kind of things. Maybe I will feel better if I just reprogrammed myself for violence. Seems to be the norm.

Speaking of consciousness.......I already posted a piece on hypnotism, but as with most things in this mad world, it is just something to be made fun of, because it is that serious of a thing. Several times in my life my consciousness had been taken over completely. I don't know if it was an outside force that just took it over, or my higher self kicked in and overrode the normal state of (hijacked) mind. It may sound crazy but I realized that the normal state of mind doesn't really allow one to observe or become aware at all. So it's obvious that one's thinking is not one's own. And thinking in normal states is very low level, maybe because it's kind of new on the evolutionary scale of things?

I also have been stage hypnotized. It's amazing to see a person's reaction when they realize they had been under a trance and didn't know it, major shock trauma. It's incredible how it can be altered this way and that way.
After all of that, I would have to say that what I think is my consciousness, is not really my own. (And it's quite insane that is all I can say of my mind, that it is not my own. My mind won't even allow me to think in other new ways.) I was reading about the different ways that beings perceived and thought a long time ago in Atlantis and Lemuria. And now these days and this low level of thinking, I'm wondering whomever put people on this way of hijacked thinking which is in charge of consciousness, perhaps did that for control of us.
