partially Slavic my ancestors leaving Russia and settling in Poland
many years ago before emigrating to North America.

Black belt Putin offers to join Russian judo team




MOSCOW (Reuters) – Black belted Russian leader Vladimir Putin has offered to join the national judo team after showing off his martial arts skills to members of the squad.

The 57-year-old prime minister made the proposal at a special coaching session on Saturday aired on state television, adding to his carefully-crafted macho image.

Putin, who many observers believe is still paramount leader despite standing down as president last year, entered the hall of St Petersburg's School of Sport Mastery dressed in a white judogi and black belt, to applause from the assembled squad.

Officials praised Putin's technique in the Japanese martial art, and dismissed any hint that he may have been allowed to win. "He has the psychology of a winner, the psychology of the victorious," said Georgy Kukoverov, the school's chief.

Lauded like a superstar inside Russia, pictures of Putin baring his torso have previously provoked excitement in Internet chat rooms from female followers and some gay men.

I think this is related to the story, was on russia today satellite news channel , but at the age of 56 or 57 whatever , that guy is an exception and a lot of that has to do with self-discipline, looks like hes doing another christmas vid for real this year

Hi, I haven't contributed for a while, but couldn't resist wondering: what would happen to someone who just happened to best Putin on the mat? It might be like beating Hitler or Stalin at chess, you might not want to do that...also I wonder if guys like Putin are receiving special longevity therapy as a reward for their service? I'm sure that he wouldn't be eating the average Russian diet, only the best food and leisure activities for the top brass, and while the average Russian's male's life expectancy is actually dropping due to alcoholism and poor diet, like their equivalent western politicos, the Russian elites are living high off the hog and shamelessly flaunting it.

...I prefer to train for the urban and street combat situations...and in those scenarios the last thing you want to do is get yourself on the ground like in Ju Jitsu, or spend a lot of time close to your opponent grabbing and attempting throws.

I highly recommend a study of this Russian martial art. It takes into its system many of the internal aspects of Chinese systems, but it is geared toward military style combat...RUSSIAN SPETSNAS

I consider this Russian art to be far superior to the much popularized Israeli martial arts system of Krav Maga...or just about anything else I have ever seen. Only some Chinese-Indonesian systems can compare.

This type of exercise and training will give one a unique type of tendon power in martial arts...a lot of secrets are revealed in this system in a no-nonsense way...this type of development can increase the power of strikes ten-fold. These coiling and spiralic wave type of movements are key to developing the vibratory micro-motions inherent in motion that will create an enhanced biophysical result.
I only recently stumbled upon this system and from what I can see I cannot recommend it enough.
Knowing what I know and watching the combat sequences in the second video, I can see a lot of the pre-loading and micro-movements that are the secret key to martial arts. They are not so obvious on any type of video footage, but I know what to look for and it is present. So when an opponent gets thrown with what looks like unbelievable force, trust me...it's real.

It's March 2009—the Berlin Wall came down two decades ago—but the lean and fit Yarynich is as jumpy as an informant dodging the KGB. He begins to whisper, quietly but firmly.
"The Perimeter system is very, very nice," he says. "We remove unique responsibility from high politicians and the military." He looks around again.
Yarynich is talking about Russia's doomsday machine. That's right, an actual doomsday device—a real, functioning version of the ultimate weapon, always presumed to exist only as a fantasy of apocalypse-obsessed science fiction writers and paranoid über-hawks. The thing that historian Lewis Mumford called "the central symbol of this scientifically organized nightmare of mass extermination."
