Just a rant and observation:

As I've mentioned previously, we live under the Age of what I have been calling "The Age of Nonsense." There can be any name for it really, but that's what I choose to call it. This summer has been an information overload of fucking bad news, dumb news, and the sign of nothing getting any better.

This combined with the drought, the election campaign, the shootings, the wars, the Olympics, religious freaks, etc... all of this keeps pushing along The Age of Nonsense at a rapid pace. Of course, all of this nonsense has been going on throughout all of human history, it's only now that are we aware of it all on a mass scale.

Sometimes I wonder what Lemmy is thinking about all of this:

My neighbor came to my office for some myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy for his problematic neck and shoulders.
While on the table we chat a bit on current events and such and he begins to mention basketball at the Olympics and asked me if I had watched it on television.
I commented to him that I have not seen any of the Olympics only because I find watching sports on television to be uninteresting...there is a long pause...dead silence...we successfully attempt to pick up the conversation with another topic.

This is when my atypical habits and lifestyle hit the "regular guy" socializing deadzone.

I am definetly not in the "regular guy' category but i have been watching a few of the olympic events ... on my own, especially some velodrome, , some gymnastics, rythym gymnastics , some diving, tennis and table tennis, the skill level in the gymnastics and diving is quite spectacular , although in the end, all that dedication and work purely provides entertainment for some viewers and some dollars for the winners from sponsorships etc

I also watched one event for the first time ever and was quite impressed with the skill , master servant level of command, its the only area of events featuring non-humans, the equestrian dressage, whereby the horse riders make a horse do things that approaches some ballet moves in synch with music, quite an impressive spectacle , although at the end of a performance , i notice the horses mouth is all white and foamy as if its been in extreme discomfort , but there is some form of harness tied around it , must be one form of control by the riders

But a lot of the events are really just aristocratic/private schooled indulgences , like equestrian, rowing, and some others

And i often ask myself why i find watching some sport on my own interesting or even engaging and the answer is twofold , some memorys of good feeling watching some as a child, and there may b some form of empathic remote-possession going down , a psychological vampiric quality of extracting pleasure and education from watching others suffer in loss and gain joy in victory (spending their emotional energy ) while i keep mine stored in my bank for more important investments of it than playing sports

Neat idea, Kapis. Yeah, I actually watched that entire 47 minute video on Kuklinski. I noticed
his Catholic parents who abused him. Mother beat the shit out of him with a wooden handle.
Where the fuck is family protection services when you need them hey? That rang a bell for
me and can empathize with him if that makes any god damn sense.

hes got some deep issues for sure , a lot of which may have been hammered into a fragile childs mind by nutcase keepers , but i suppose there have been other people with bad upbringings who turn out to be saints
Quite chilling when he says he feels nothing about who he kills , chilling that the human psychology can adopt such a stance, but there are a lot more psychos out there with that stance and they are not under max security , their in uniforms

To be honest, TG, I think that I tend to rationalize metaphysical ideas based off of my own personal experiences, and my own objective world views. Not that they are ever completely correct or anything, but that has been how my intellectual processes have worked, thus far.

I wanted to expand about what I meant by the previous post. As an adult I am philosophically opposed to all metaphysical systems in the dogmatic sense. That's not to say that there isn't benefits to such systems, and some are more interesting than others. Here is one simple way I have arrived at this conclusion.

I grew up in a Catholic family, was an "altar boy" and all of that nonsense. I bought it hook, line, and sinker, because...well...I was a baby, and my parents are dumb. The point is, if I can be bullshitted once into believing in a system, I could be fooled again...as an adult. It doesn't upset me that I disregard metaphysical systems.

Lately, I've been wrestling with the idea that for whatever reason(s), mankind isn't supposed to know whether he is mortal or immortal. Maybe we're not supposed to know if life continues or not, for a reason, whether it's in our benefit or not. Maybe a good reason? Maybe a bad reason? Maybe no reason?

I might just be talking to myself at this point, but my mental gears aren't shutting off.

I just want to say, that as difficult as it is, when one loses hope in their past philosophies (or programming), it takes great bravery to develop ones own authentic self, even if it requires significant introspection and solitude. Not trying to sound negative, just the opposite in fact.

I think it's easy to go from overcoming the programming of the past and develop into hardcore atheism. I have no problem with people who do this, as I have a sort of quasi atheistic attitude myself. But I don't feel that human existence ends at atheism. Just what I'm thinking about right now. It's a mindfuck of epic proportions. All I can suggest is just don't give up.
