What brings YOU to your AVATAR?

My little guy is a mongoose, they're from the badger family. Snakes be quick, but they be quicker.

This avatar,' Magdalene with the smoking flame' was encountered late one evening while listening to the music of Gregorio Allegre 'Misrere Mei Dues'. It use to be the picture on the youtube video of the song. That night I was sitting at my desk, which use to be in my bedroom. The only light in the room was from the screen. To my left was a full length mirror and while listening I looked to see myself framed in the mirror. My long hair draped down over my shoulders and my face illuminated by the screen as I sat contemplative. Something about the music, the painting, my reflection and the mood in that moment juxtaposed. The painting by Georges De La Tour evokes this sense of some ancient secret. The contemplation of the mystery of death, knowledge, the flame as the spark of life or desire, the cross and scourge. The way she gazes into the flame and the relaxed position of her body. It is said that she is pregnant, this seems to be so and makes this completion of an infinite circuit communicated in the painting. That is how I see it anyways. Never saw this painting before nor heard that composition and I don't remember how I found the video or why I chose to listen. The song makes the top of my head tingle.

Thinking about this led me on a researching journey and I read a little about the music and the painting. The song has a relationship with a psalm, which in turn is likened (or the other way around) to an Egyptian ritual 'The Opening of the Mouth'.

My daughter was carrying around a blue cookie monster doll for a couple of weeks and wouldn't let it out of her sight.

My avatar is a croatian vuture, the last remaining ones on the european continent. I am kinda proud that we still have animals in our tiny country that are extinct in the rest of europe (like bears, vipers, lynxes, etc) this is a way to remind me how "backwards" we croats are and another reason is that I actually like necrofagous beings because they don't have to kill to sustain themselves...they feed on death instead....they also use thermo-dynamics to fly, and unlike any other birds they don't require their own energy to do so. no other birds fly higher up either....so this is my homage to one of the greatest beings from "planet paprika"

and even in South Germany...!!! Natural Scientists discovered 22 of them flying over Mönchengladbach

Because they migrated from Spain and Portugal..where some are also still existing in the wilderness.

The Scientists say this is because the EU makes it law that dead animal cadavers must be collected and (?) not keep lying around...

So... the Griffon Vultures have been moving to new teritorries within NON-EU-Europe....*LMAO*

But in Croatia they have always lived, mainly on the Islands...and in the South...
