Re: THE CHITCHAT ARENA
I tried a puff of my father's cig when I was seven. I couldn't breath and felt sick...never did it again.
Never liked alcohol...made me feel sick in the stomach and didn't like the buzz.
But smoking my own weed...home-grown and in soil, not hydro...I truly enjoyed.
After several years of enjoyment smoking weed began to slow me down and make me tired, which began to work against me and fulfilling all my interests and activities which require energy and focus. Perhaps this happens with long term use or with my own hormonal changes due to age.
So I gave it up. Now that I have kids and realize what they require in terms of energy and focus, there is no way I can see myself getting away with smoking pot and being an effective parent while still pursuing my own health and interests.
It just won't jive...no matter how I may attempt to mentally convince myself otherwise, reality dictates that I jut could not...and should not.
Sex while high was also...spectacular.

Re: THE CHITCHAT ARENA
does our observation of another person send their atoms in some form of wave or physical particle?
All matter absorbs and emits light. Emitted light manifests as waves. Absorbed light changes the wave to particles. It is the "observer effect" in the atom that determines the identity of the atom - as wave or particle. Shamanic consciousness is the ability of the observer and observed becoming one, a situation that is standard in the quantum world of 'New Physics'.
Now if you plan to harm somebody else....
expect your own head to 'explode' alongside with the one observed (victim)!
Just look at people who caused death and mayhem...in this world...there are enough examples I think...
do they radiate gracefully or do they look spiritually debilitated or even appear to be soul-less?
A shaman will tell you that if you deliberately want to hurt another human being it will always deplete yourself too and your soul will fall ill. To protect and defend yourself is the best action, but not to throw the first stone at somebody as it affects yourself just as much. Even affirmative prayers that includes others can backfire if they deal with how you ('think it is right') want to perceive somebody elses existence...
Light and the absense of Light don't mix as it is either light or it isn't...only how you want to perceive light, as a particle or as a wave, is up to you.

Re: THE CHITCHAT ARENA
if a tree falls in a forest with nobody around does it make a noise? The answer being no
This is one of those funny zen questions that teach us that the question is basically irrelevant.
Like "what is the sound of one hand clapping"....
From a shaman's intellectual conclusion everything that you perceive is real.
If you see the tree in your memory, it exists somewhere.
If you can hear the clapping noise of one hand, it exists.
Anything you can perceive in your mind exists on the plane of reality and is real.
Yet...
You are not your senses and you are not your thoughts...
you have thoughts floating through your mind like clouds travel through empty sky......
You are the forest, the tree..and the noise of falling...
you are in the world of physical phenomena, but you are not made by this world..of phsysical phenomenon.
The problem with 'new science' and 'new age' is they try to "identify" SPIRIT...
ask the wrong questions or assume that zen questions are to be tackled 'rationally'...
if a tree falls in a forest with nobody around does it make a noise?
The answer to your initial 'tree question' may answers 'no' in one of the mental planes..
but you missed the underlying implication,
the "inner question".
Is there a place existing if it was not first conceived by your rational mind?
In essence...to be able for a mind to raise such a question...the answer must exist..
and to answer the riddle in my own words:
energy follows attention...it can't flow to something that doesn't exist.
P.S. according to the shaman's intellectual conclusion we have different 3 minds,
and only if the three minds work in unison can a human perceive his relation to reality, in all totality.
