Re: Meaning of or in life
My father who is 70 years old keeps a small bag, but lethal dose, of high quality No. 4 heroin in his nightstand.
He is not a user of heroin, but he keeps it there for that one eventual day.
The day where he has aged and degenerated to a point where he is not independent and does not want to be relegated to a bed, watching tv, wearing diapers and shitting himself just waiting to die. So should he still have the mind to prep it and inject it...then that is what he will do.
He tells me that should that day come that I am to know he was not an addict or user but that it was simply...a good ride out...the last first-aid kit one will ever need.
He was always rather good at making preparations for life's real but unpleasant eventualities.

Re: Meaning of or in life
Good points, but there are millions that would share your grandas conditioned mind state , probably not truly earned by his own serious investigations of self and engaged reality and fantasies ( : . which is why i prefer your points to that type of restrictive dogma these daysBRDN wrote:So I told him that to me, it made more sense to come face to face with your true self as your "judgement". One cannot hide their decisions or feelings from thyself on a permanent basis, it always comes down to suppression and the altercations that it brings to one's psyche. Facing yourself, without the ability to run, or hide, or deny, seems an entirely more intimidating and fundamental experience than the pre-requisites of a god, to live in his kingdom for eternity.
QSC, if your father were to reach such a stage and do that last rite, it would be a will of iron with no room for sentiment , hope, or nostalgia
The hardest thing must be the disconnection of all hope

Getting caught up. Your dad, Qsc, what's his physical condition now?

BRDN, your thoughts are that upon death you would entertain freezing,
or getting frozen to death?
Grizzly way to go.
I was running sprints two months ago. I mean hard sprints, and about half
way through a sprint out in the middle of the grassy field I was running in, I
suddenly thought to myself, fuck it, just give me a heart attack and I'll drop
dead in this big open grassy field.

re: Reflecting death.
Amazing what it does as you witness and go through life as your relatives
start dying off. My uncles and dad who I barely know after all these years,
had sort of an adopted brother my uncle brought back home after he left
the army with him. My grandmother took him into the family as one of her
own sons, she was always like that.
He was always generous to my grandmother. He worked at a bar his entire
life, involved as a bookie with the local mafia and drove a nice car.
Last year at about 70 years old he comes home and drops dead in his living
room in his small apartment. Uncles and dad get the call from the police and
then go over to identify him and then start the post death ritual ceremonies.
Suddenly, everyone in the family are making arrangements for the own
deaths.
So, do we survive death?

So, do we survive death
many have asked the question TG, who can say for sure , a lifetime can be spent moulding a consciousness into what it is, and yet seemingly it can all disappear in a millisecond at least to those around it on this physical earth
