Hi Flames, this is what I heard. Microsoft has become junk so Japan is making their own system. So far Linux is the best as macs can still get viruses.
http://www.ubuntu.com/

It's too bad you couldn't salvage your laptop? It didn't have a restore button, most new ones do. I know someone who got a worm, and ruined everything, but they had the restore button!

If you don't have one, there is something called kill discs. It will get rid of everything on your computer, but at least you can still use your computer and will be back to normal.
I don't know any mac users or how to do any of this, but that is a definite solution.
Good luck!

I got the professional version of this and it's okay. The free version is good too.

Ive never heard of a virus destroying a pc Flames, maybe it could devastate the software, but you can reload any windows system, or even get a cure for the particular virus if you can identify it

Free antiviruses are pretty good, but it depends on what sites and viruses one encounters, better to pay for a pro-version of any anti-virus for the optimum protect, and keep it updated regular.

Windows 7 64 bit seems quite good so far, i used win xp64bit for years and never had a problem

Windows vista sucks, say no more

Macs are classy, but i have not owned one .

but i have had an apple iphone 3g and currently using iphone 4, got to say these are class , im talking about refined quality manufacturing and performance
The problem with apple is their products are very high priced , so thats why i have not shipped out crazy dough for a mac although im very attracted to them , my iphone 4 i got through a rumanian , at a very reasonable price sealed in box

I am told that Macs are preferable if you do a lot of photography, computer engineering or graphics work. And I think you can now run Windows operating system on a Mac if you desire.

As the ipod does not have an antennae or transmitter Flames , i would just check out ebay to see whats available or go to an apple forum and check some feedbacks

Regarding the iphone 4, which also has an inbuilt ipod Wink one has to be very careful about covers
There was a lot of very bad press about the iphone4 dropping its signal etc because of where you hold it with your hand in certain positons and apple had to end up making a special bumper cover because the press were so bad on this little minor problem

I say minor , because i checked out exactly what was causing this minor "potential" problem , on the outside rim of the iphone4 there are "TWO" antenaes which actually improve the phones reception capabilitys over other phones, the potential problem being that these antenaes are separates by about a 1 to 2 mm gap on the rim , so im guesing that in very high sweaty humidity conditions, if a person holds the iphone in a certain grasp with their hand , and if their bodily sweat salts etc are conductive enough to create an electrical bridge between the 2 antenaes , what happens is they have the effect of slightly detuning the antenaes on a temporary basis which drops the signal capability because the antenae has been detuned momentarily

ITs a potential problem blown out of all proportion because the media were desperate to find a problem with the revolutionary apple products, but ive tried all forms of grip on mine and never seen the signal drop, although i have not used it with sweaty dripping hands which may happen in very hot high humidity countries

Went off on a tangent from your question but good info to put out i thought , on the covers basically it will be silicon soft cover or moreharder type cover whatever is prefered , screen protectors are cheap and simple to apply

And I think you can now run Windows operating system on a Mac if you desire. .

And MacBooks have a program called "Boot Camp" for some Windows applications.

Ive been roadtesting an apple minimac for the last couple days, very nice unit , simple transition from using windows , and it comes with the bootcamp application

This actually allows you to load your windows operating system onto the mac disc partition, you can specify how much of your hard disc memory you want for your windows , say 100gb and then the rest is kept for the mac

you can then fire up windows or mac as you choose and just restart the mac to switch between them, unless you purchase a further software app which allows you to run windows and mac simultaneous on screen with ltd programs
You would require an antivirus for the windows if you loaded it
there is also a mac version of office (you have to purchase it ) if you just wanted to run old windows office files on a new mac

when i tried to tune in my wireless printer to my win7 a few months back, i had a hell of a job, but as soon as i turned on the mac wireless search, it found and intertwined with the printer in one click - now thats my kind of performer

This thing is about 7 inches square and just over an inch high and packs a whole lot of performance into that size , completly silent and barely uses any power , a like it a lot

Cost latest model circa 440 pounds plus you would need a keyboard and mouse if ure existing not compatible , oh and a screen , ive just connected mine with hdmi cable to the hd tv

TG - Ref the iMac , if you have not already done or if you ever need to, you can very easily load windows onto your apple as well and enjoy the 2 operating systems and all their little specialities

Click on Applications , then Utilities, and there is an icon called BOOTCAMP ASSISTANT , this is used to load a windows operating system in three steps , firstly have a windows 7 disc and licence handy, you can pick up a licence for 25 pounds on the web, then also have an empty dvd or cd available

click on bootcamp assistant , first thing is asks is how much of your hardisk you want to dedicate (partition) to windows (unless you have a dual hard disk , thenonce partitioned, you put your cd dvd in the computer and the bootcamp assistant gets all the drivers required to allow windows to operate the mac interfaces, write that to disc , eject , then windows disc in load up the windows jive, once windows loaded, put in the dvd cd with the drivers etc and that loads in , then you have windows operating , Grab an antivirus, then you have 2 systems on one computer , to flip between each system, there's a bootcamp option to restart in windows or mac whatever you choose .

Why would anyone want to do this, because many windows stuff not compatible with mac and vice versa, windows is better for some things and mac better for others, no antivirus required on mac operating system as well
There is also a cheap software for mac called "staroffice " which will open lots of windows office files etc if required

Have you checked out the new mac movie editor, stunning performance, i will need to get this one but I'm not paying that price for it so will wait for a while
http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/

worth checking out the overview

i loaded windows on primarily because I've installed a 4kw solar Pv system , (HeHe, I'm gone green using their own money ) put the inverter in the loft, because its got a blue tooth connection but only with pc software , i can then sit back and watch all the parameters of the solar pv generation Ac and Dc on the screen , i will post a pic of a months generation soon once the sun starts to hit a higher arc and hits me with some decent rays of light , the most I'm getting in one day at the moment is about 8 kw total, but this system can do 4 units (kw hrs) in one hour in the high summer
