I didn't realize John Denver was into World Citizenship.

Yes, he was also into alcoholism and suicide.

I always liked John Denver and I always loved his music. I just didn't realize what he was all about until recently. That is so weird...
This study on symbolism has really give new meaning to just about everything I see or hear these days. Sometimes I think I'm just taking it a bit too far, but sometimes I think I'm not taking it far enough.

Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy...has a whole new meaning now. How can I enjoy that???

I always like him. His looks, music and projected image or lifestyle made him an archetype of the seventies in the U.S.
The down-home Colorado man. This was the image I emulated most as a kid. Being in the woods, hiking, canoes, shooting, and trying to recapture the wisdom of the Native Americans. Being environmentally conscious.
Musician Dan Folgelberg was similar in this respect. As were the Eagles.
During this time Colorado became the Mecca of being "natural".
And was quite doable if you made millions and had enough coke to last you the winter.
Most of it was an illusion or movement behind the veil of commercialism and being a fad.
Consumerism and the yuppie lifestyle won out, thus blending us into the eighties.

Yea, the same for me too. I was a kid that read Mother Earth News. I was the only one I knew that subscribed to that magazine. I loved that magazine and I couldn't wait for the next month copy to show up in the mail.

The magazine is not the same now as it was back then. It was a real do it yourself type magazine. Make it from scraps you find in the woods. Now, it's a list of suppliers.

I wanted to marry Grizzly Adams... Not because he was cute or anything, but I just fell in love with his life style image portrayed on tv.

Geeze, I miss the 70's.
